Just sold an item for $ 625 and my final charges were $90. this looked very high to me. looked at the fee breakdown and it was 12.55%. calculated the fees manually and it was supposed to be less.
I had to call the to get explanation, and they told me that the the buyer paid some $700+ which the item price + shipping + tax and that is the amount used to calculate the fee. how ridiculous is that.

" . . . if you sell more than $600 on eBay they will send you a 1099?" as required by the Federal government via the IRS?

Don't believe we should pay fees from shipping charges when we are actually paying for the item to be shipped at that cost. Makes no sense.

Actually, just to nitpick, your BUYER pays YOU the shipping charges and YOU then use that money to pay for shipping.

Just sold a set of drums and was charged 13.25%. If it had been a guitar or bass it would have been 6.35%. I saw "Musical Instruments" guitars and basses. Yes, now it is clear but at the time I assumed that was an example. Fees are not that easy to find and, in this case, I think it could have been a little clearer. I'm not sure what there love is for guitars and basses and dislike of all other musical instruments, but that's another issue.
