Dropshipping From Amazon

I bought a pair of aquatic shoes to wear in an water aerobics class I just started.  The stores don't seem to carry them this time of year so I took to the web.  Found a nice pair of speedo ones in my size right here on eBay so I bought them.

They came in yesterday and imagine my surprise when it appears they had been dropshipped from Amazon.  Take a look at the sellers f/b and see lots of red negs for dropshipping from walmart with price tags still on -- people were mad that they paid more than they should have had they just gone to walmart.com themselves to order their item.

Now, I am not going to neg the seller but I am confused and wonder exactly how this works -- how does an eBay seller dropship from Amazon or Walmart?  And can there really be that much of a profit for them to make it worthwhile to do so?

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Do you think it is worthy of a neg?  I don't know how much profit they made but I should have gone to amazon myself, as it appears they were less there.  I think what this seller is doing is cheesey and chep, but the item did meet my expectations and matched description and shipped quickly -- Should I neg them anway?  It does semm like eBay sellers like this really cheapen eBay.

How in the world can someone think they should neg a seller because they paid more than the person they bought off is beyond me.

why does it appear that way???  an Amazon box?  You do realize that some sellers store their items in Amazon Warehouses and pay Amazon to ship for them?  It's NOT that they are buying on/from Amazon.......

If the item came from goodwill.com would you be considering negging the seller? How about dollar tree.com or Dirt Cheap.com or Ollies.com?

It seems that the folks that get teed off about stuff dropshipped from the river are really just mad that they didn't do their due diligence when comparison shopping.

Why does it matter where the seller is sourcing from?

I have no problem if something comes from any other site ... as long as it is on time and as Described....I paid what I was willing to pay and the seller made a profit....Or not.

My regular office supply seller just sent part of my last order from Amz. They were out of stock on an item and managed to fulfill my order any way they could ... I was grateful ... I needed the stuff 🙂 Both packages arrived at the same time, one eBay box and one Amz box.

do have an issue with someone using their Prime account and shipping as a "gift", though. Prime membership keeps getting more expensive .... and using it for drop shipping is against Prime rules.

Those, I report to amz

I agree with that comment. Unless the seller used their Amazon Prime account to fulfill there is no harm, no foul.

If you think the item was shipped Prime and arrived with Prime tape and a gift slip then you can report them to Amazon for abuse of the Prime program.

Pro is you have no holding  or shipping cost when you dropship and it is fast to process these so any little profit can be worth it with no money out of your pocket at all.

Con is you can gather up those red donuts pretty fast from people that don't do their due dilegence in researching prices first and just negs instead of giving kudos to the resellers for making it easier for them  to find the product they were looking for.

i don't dropship but i do resell items i buy from walmart, mail order catalogs, etc.  My con is i have holding cost, shipping cost if i mistake and not to mention what i buy upfront might not sell at all. i don't make as much as the dropshipper due to my extra expenses and time involved.

my pro is i protect myself from getting negs and keep my selling career going here by reshipping the items out from here but what i do is change out my boxes so my buyers don't learn my source. So items i receive from walmart will be resold and shipped out in my car related parts boxes and my car parts will be shipped out in my walmart boxes. i try reusing boxes from sources that don't sell that type of item. i might not make as much as the drop shipper but i do get repeat customers and i'm still here many years later (20 years)

anyways No i would not neg a drop shipper.

i actually buy from one that buys from the same source as me. i buy  certain items from him here because even though i can buy directly too, he gets a better deal then me directly  because he spends over hundred  grand a year with them.  So i buy certain products from him here and the other products he doesn't carry i buy directly from the supplier when i need them.

Not only that but.....what difference does it make if the seller walks into wal-mart & buys their widgets in person &then ships them to the buyer or if they order them from walmart & have walmart ship straight to the buyer? Either way the item came from walmart but in the first scenario, the buyer is none the wiser. So I don't understand the hatred against dropshippers, seems like a bunch of bitter betty's who are regretful that they didn't shop around first.

Exactly! And OP is also a seller. What's that saying about "... the seller makes the worst buyer ..." ? The topic of drop shipping has been dealt with before. This is a similar scenario, again fishing for opinions of whether to neg a seller.
I am disappointed (imho).

that is exactly why eBay should root this out. Instead they seem to encourage it. A buyer bought 3 things on ebay. The first to get there came in a box from the competition. Quickest shipping and the price as obvioulsy less by enough that the seller made a profit. Dang! NEXT TIME I'LL JUST GO OVER THERE FIRST!

Although I try to avoid dropshippers, it's not for ideological reasons. For me, those transactions seem to be more problem prone. Seller initiated cancellations are particularly annoying.

I don't have Amazon Prime, so paying for shippping over there often makes an identical ebay offering cheaper for me.

As long as I get my stuff as described and on time, I don't much care where it comes from. Even if an item is dropshipped from Amazon or Walmart, in the end, I believe I'm still supporting a fellow ebay seller.

OK, now that['s the other can of beans already discussed in the post you quoted.  What happens is a seller may not have time or facilities to pack and ship each order (maybe they work full time or are disabled).  They make one shipment of  100 widgets to a fulfillment center.  As each order comes in, the fulfillment center handles the shipping to the customer.  They may come from the same place, but teh circumstances are different.  In that case the fulfillment center is shipping items owned by the seller.  That's far less offensive to me than the seller buying each item from there after they get a sale from here.

Dropshipping is all fine and good until it ISNT.  I wouldnt neg just BECAUSE they dropshipped but I would if the dropshipper sent hte wrong item or NO item then the Ebay seller just shrugged "oh well" or tried to make MY refund dependent on the dropshipper refunding HIM.

I have posted about my aunt recently bought some boots here that were dropshipped but the dropshipper delivered TO THE WRONG HOUSE (and even got signature confirmation signed BY THE WRONG PERSON). The PO even tried to get the item back but the recipient claimed they "didnt have it".  YET delivery shows DELIVERED.  SO it took a letter from the PO admitting that it went to the wrong house and that it wasnt her signature on the reciept.  The seller finally send a replacement but she could have done like both Ebay AND Paypal and said it was delivered so not my problem any more.  I gave that seller a positive but I doubt that she will be trusting a drop shipper again any time soon.

Another seller though got a flat out neg for having the item dropshipped from Amazon.  I didnt buy from Amazon because they didnt have the very one I wanted (color, size, authentic just one of those "works with" add on items).  It was TOTALLY NOT what I intended to buy on Ebay and didnt match the listing (for an authentic item in teh desired color and size).  THAT seller said no returns/refunds but after opening a dispute said they would refund IF the other seller would refund him THEN send my refund.  Uh no.  I returned to the EBAY seller and EBAY gave me the refund.  I negged appropriately for the hassle and SNAD and waffly ness of refunding a SNAD.
