There's a theory that if you raise the price after one or two tries, the item will often sell. I've seen it happen at a yard sale, and it's happened with a couple of my own listings (I sell using a different eBay id). I don't raise the price by a huge amount, just maybe 25 to 50 cents. It doesn't make me rich (ha!!), but gets the item out of my house and off my kitchen table, and that's good enough for me sometimes.
