Did you mean:

Double the funds placed on hold for the same item.

As many (most) sellers on eBay currently, I've been having issues with long delivery times on items. Recently, a buyer filed an "Item not received" claim for a laptop that they purchased (7 days after the item shipped). eBay placed the funds ($245) for that item on hold. The item was delivered the very next day and the buyer immediately filed for a return because they ended up buying a laptop locally. So, eBay placed the funds on hold AGAIN (total $490) until the return is completed. I understand that the "Item not received" claim will automatically close 24-hours after the item is scanned as "delivered", but those funds don't actually get freed up for another 2-3 days. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that long, but I don't understand how eBay justifies holding double the funds for one item. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Likely this happened simply because a new second claim was filed.  It does seem really tacky for them to initiate an additional hold for the same transaction.  I suppose if the original INR hold is not lifted in a day or so, you are going to have to call.  Managed payments is not real fast with releasing funds even on a good day.

Let us know how this turns out.

Well, dang. I suppose the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Geez, eBay...
