Done with eBay

I am in total agreement with living without EBay but AMAZON is the same **bleep**. They stand behind their buyers (who are scam artists and so forth) and the seller is considered the **bleep**donating our lost money into making their company larger. Today I ended my experience also. I sold a lot of 16 books mostly NEW but advertised as used, took pictures of everyone one as a few had some turned up corners. Buyer received them telling me they wanted a refund as the books were horrible and smelled and had water damage (which they didn't) as they were wrapped in plastic. Their pictures they sent to eBay did not match any of the pictures listed on the auction page. eBay refunded the money even though I disagreed as their pictures were profiles of random books that you couldn't see the covers with crinkled pages.
So I called eBay today as I THEY arrived damaged and said I wanted to complain about this as they did not look like my books and further they gave him a first class label for 10 lbs of media mail. The person at EBay said I had to refund the money before I could dispute it so I did. He then said he would email me forms to sign disputing the Transaction. He then transferred me to the disputes dept. I then got transferred to PayPal who told me they had nothing to do with this and that now the case was closed because I refunded the money.
very angry and **bleep** at this point, I called eBay back and they said the same thing. CASE CLOSED BECAUSE I REFUNDED THE MONEY and never got any dispute forms via email. Do they think we are all STUPID AS OBVIOUSLY WE FALL INTO THEIR TRAP OF BELIEVING THEM BECAUSE THEY WORK AT EBAY. I said "you just lied to me". And they said "so now you are disputing and we r still denying it". AND WHY DO THEY ALL SOUND ALIKE, SAME ACCENT.
IM DONE!! The buyer was ignorant because I asked him to send me pictures of the water damaged box, and he said he will just wait for eBay to refund him(as he already knew they would) and told me to f.....off 3 different times. Again EBay doesn't acknowledge any of the complaints u give them. Do they even look. Im going to get rid of anything else i have to sell . I want to see eBay go out of business.

I'm sorry that sucks, but you have been on eBay long enough to know that there is always a risk of losing your item and money. This is especially true when you don't offer returns at all. If someone wants to return something, they will do anything in their power to make it happen. When you don't offer returns they just make sure they open it as a SNAD forced return so you lose what little return power you might have had.

When you do offer returns, they force a SNAD to bypass paying return shipping.  When will people stop acting like policy is the problem?  It's people!

The reason you cannot appeal is because you authorized the return (or eBay authorized it because you disagreed...and you also got a case unresolved with seller resolution defect).  In eBay's eyes, that would be like you saying you were wrong in your decision and want eBay to pay for your mistake.

Not that I agree with eBay - because of course, sellers authorize returns under duress (and because they are coerced by visions of being permanently banned from selling) by eBay to authorize refunds - under penalty of getting defects for unresolved cases...but that is eBay's rationalization. Their reasoning is that sellers who can "afford" the unresolved case strike will deny the return and pay the consequences...and they are right!  Volume sellers do better because they can afford to take a few policy hits.

Ebay have lost the plot I see ebay UK now raised their scheduled listing fee from 10p to 11p. Oh its only 1p but thats a lot of 1p they collect off every seller and never told sellers they were raising the cost. They sneakly raise prices and hope sellers don't notice. Frankly appauling that people can take any goods they want from sellers for free all they have to do is open a dispute and lie and ebay automatically sides with the buyer without investigating the facts its really terrible. Can't ebay see sellers are quiting in large numbers? Ebay need to win sellers back they have really hurt my business which has turned into a buy it now shop on UK. The netflix tax they forced on OZ sellers raised prices yet again to the point I can't keep accepting fee increases to use the site. I just recently left ebay USA hopefully ebay UK don't start with the crazy price hikes ebay USA have. They have become a revenue raising company to see how many millions they can make each year and unfortunately ruin the experience for many sellers like you and me. The sellers are paying heavily to use the site I can't see big profits for sellers of cheap goods.

Selling online anywhere can be as risky as taking a shortcut through an alleyway with expensive jewelry.

And lord help your chances when trying to meet up with someone from CL.

It appears to be one of many evil trends in our world.

Having returns available makes no difference, the buyers were not considering a return as you are thinking they simply wanted free stuff, I have offered returns for years and I have yet to ever have an honest return happen yet. They will still lie and make up problems that do not even exist. they know they can simply lie and hide behind ebays poorly set up seller protection to get anything they want. They already know they can say anything they want and win so why even offer a return policy when it will not have any bearing on anything anyway? I had stipulations in some policies on certain items I was selling that included having items installed by a professional certified installer or I would not accept the item in a return. The item had to have the installers paperwork presented to me showing that they had found my item to be defective upon installation, Without this proof i would not be responsible for any issues with the items and I would not be providing any refunds without this proof, guess what they opened a SNAD case and would not reply to any messages i sent trying to get any answers to what was wrong, I was forced to refund their money and when i got it back i found that the only problem was they didn't read the manual to find out that the unit had 3 buttons on the front that controlled 3 sets of speaker connections. None of the buttons were pushed to make the speakers active thus it would not have any audio. Something so simple could have easily been corrected ended up costing me $35 in shipping! Plus they returned an item that was working properly and when i reported them to eBay i got a defect since ebay said I escalated the case when i called to report the buyer, immediately the case was ruled in the buyers favor even after i had already accepted the return and refunded their money! So as i said your refund policy means nothing here.

@zoe161 I am sorry this happened: sorry that you got stuck with a scamming buyer and sorry that eBay has it's unfortunate policies on these things.

The % of good, honest buyers on eBay exceeds that of the scummy scammers. Please keep that in mind. If I were you I would just absord this loss  -- while holding my nose -- and continue on.  Also, learn how to handle such a case with eBay if it ever happens again to you.  Appeals generally don't work out in the seller's favor.

In the meantime, I would have to, and I do mean really have to -- to get it off my chest, write a calm email to that buyer telling them what they did was very wrong and karma is not going to be on their side.

Again, sorry this happened.

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Unfortunately, it only takes one buyer - really messing over a seller - to make all of those good honest buyers seem non-existant.  Years can go by and then that one buyer really hits and does a job on a seller and the good percentage means NOTHING.

And, with ebay's help and the CS, that has nothing to loose, giving any advise or 'story line' they feel like - no matter what Alan and Co. say about 'coaching' them ("Three Cheers For ebay") - things aren't going to change.

I'm really sorry that this happens to sellers.

I'm sorry it happens to sellers too.  I really hope eBay is tracking how many times a user claims SNAD.  If their % of SNADs is extremely high it should be a red flag to ebay that it can't be all the sellers, rather that buyer is the problem.  Maybe we can ask Alan if eBay takes note of this and/or if they will implement it.

I am also sorry it happens to honest sellers too.  It just doesn't seem fair.  I wonder if any of the other online venues has so many of these problems?

Meanwhile I was binge watching "Orange is the New Black" and there is a scene where someone is going to buy on eBay.  Another character said "I hope you don't get scammed" (meaning the seller was going to scam them).  Sad that eBay has that reputation.  I guess all those bad sellers in past years gave eBay such a reputation.  The little traction eBay seems to get in pop culture these days put it in such a negative light.  Real shame.

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

As long as there are 'people', there are going to be good sellers, bad sellers, good buyers and bad buyers - facts of life.  I think, what really ticks me off, is the help 'people' get from the ones that have, but want more.  It isn't even a matter of not having and wanting something - but having and wanting more.

Oh well, again, facts of life.

You all aren't getting the point. When you don't offer returns at all, the only option it gives you to return is by SNAD. If you offer returns, you are at least giving other options that the buyer maybe honest about. In other words, when you have no return options it will automatically be the option for SNAD. If you offer them, you have a chance of them opening for other remorse reasons. Obviously, they can still open it as a SNAD, but you are at least giving other options to prevent that.

Quick question ... is this an ecommerce website or a gambling website?

@klassic*kids

Actually I think they already do this.  Have seen threads where the buyer is upset because they were kicked out of the MBG because of too many cases opened.

I believe I have read that bid retractions and cancellations can also restrict buying privileges.
