Starting tomorrow the USPS is adding a surcharge on packages
over 22" its $4
over 30" its $15
over 2 cu ft its $15
and ebay is not giving a shipping label discount on the surcharges

I'll just add, the PO can apply TWO of these if they qualify: so you could be paying $4, $15, $19 or $30 more per package. If you use ebay labels with calculated shipping, ebay is adding this into its calculations. However, it you offer free shipping or you set a flat amount, you will want to adjust your prices, for qualifying packages. And, of course, in some cases, you might want to consider a different carrier, if that is practical for you.
These fees, which USPS calls a "non-standard fee" apply to Retail Ground, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Parcel Select Ground, and First Class Package Service.
ebay's announcement can be found here:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/USPS-rate-changes-effective-April-3-2022/ba-p/32787641
Keep in mind this applies whether you use ebay labels or not, and applies if you are using USPS on any platform. So far, I have not heard of any other label provider (such as PirateShip) offering a discount on these non-standard fees.
So, for larger items, it's more important than ever to know your package dimensions.
As for me, I think many of my items can handle the $4.00 increase, especially since other sellers will have the same cost (if using USPS). I might want to adjust my item price on some items, but for now, I'll probably let the current price ride----this is long tail stuff, I don't expect it to sell quickly regardless. But the 15, 19, or 30 increase will be hard to pass on to the buyer for some items, and so I might remove some items, or maybe go with Local PickUp only. (more likely remove and try to sell locally, via a consignment shop etc....depending on the item)
Different sellers will find different solutions. The important thing is to not be caught unaware.

I will definitely be using FedEx and UPS more; I often have larger items that will at least hit the $4 mark and occasionally the $15.
Does this apply to international as well? My biggest packages often go that route.
And don't forget about eBay fees on the higher amounts as well. If you hit the $30 you could be paying $3.60 more to eBay.

Very good point...not only will the shipping increase make it harder to find a buyer, but the seller will be paying more in ebay fees if he does find a buyer.

I wonder what happens if someone buys a large item today, where eBay gives them the current shipping cost, but they don't pay for a few days.

The shipping calculator adjusts in real time, so if they pay tomorrow or later, they will be charged at the new rates.

If someone buys & pays today, I'll be sure to print my label today and not tomorrow.

I started entering shipping, weight, and dims on more of my listings in last 12 months due to USPS constant increase in cost.
I hope eBay captures / adjust this in seller current and future listings.
In the last two years, USPS stated a "so called" temporary increase cost during the holidays, but was this really ever adjusted after the holidays? I don't think it was.

"If someone buys & pays today, I'll be sure to print my label today and not tomorrow."
I was thinking about that, too. My post office has closed for the day today, and I have one (business) day handling time, so anything purchased today will go out Monday. While I can print the label today at the pre-increase price, I wonder if USPS will be bill me the non-standard fee because I will actually be dropping this off on a day after the increase went into effect?
Also, if I print the label today bur set it for delivery to the PO on Monday, will ebay's calculated shipping add the non-standard fee today?
At this point, kind of hoping I don't sell any large items today LOL
(I am actually removing some items today to re-evaluate them, so hopefully will dodge pretty much any increase except the $4.00 increase....I could get caught with that if they buy today....)

Be careful. IIRC, starting last January the label price was based on the selected shipping date, not on the date that the label was purchased.

The "holiday surcharge" was removed right on schedule.

@nobody*s_perfect Yeah, I kind of thought so. I just wonder if I select Monday for a label I print today, will ebay include the non-standard charge, or will they only do that for labels printed on Sunday? They SHOULD include it, especially if I select Monday as my shipping date, but I wonder if they'll get that right.....here's hoping I won't need to find out LOL

I doubt that just like I doubt that when we get out of this increase in food, gas, and the false home values based on the suppose supply chain issues that the prices will be adjusted lower
I know this conversation can go on and on, but that this my intention.

Its probably in efforts to revive the dino retail.

I checked when I printed labels today, the shipping calculator already has the surcharge added if you select Monday's mailing date.
