Does "emails,phone numbers, social media links" include that stupid Paypal logo ???

I just got this new email from Ebay:

"198 of your listings contain(s) contact-information such as phone number, email address or weblinks, which is in violation of listing policies. Noncompliant listings will soon be blocked."

(When I click to see them, it's now 205)

I don't have anything like that in my listings, the only thing I can think of is that stupid Paypal logo from way back, which if you click it, DOES take you to Paypal. Could that be what Ebay is objecting to?

I don't know how to take that logo out of 205 listings in bulk....

**********UPDATE ---> I took the Paypal logo out of 382150348429, but it's still showing up on the list, so I just don't know what it wants......

The old PayPal logo used to have the seller's email address embedded in the link for referral purposes.

If you can look at the HTML source for your listings, you should be able to confirm this.

I just had a look at 152251816961

When I moused over the PayPal logo, your email address did indeed show in the URL.

And as for 382150348429, the only thing I can think of is that due to the incompetence of whoever was responsible for writing the code to find this stuff, the link back to your own eBay store could be mistakenly triggering the bot.

By the way, it looks like you may have inadvertently wiped out the entire description for that one when you were removing the PayPal logo.

Yep. And that link doesn't even work anymore, and hasn't for years.

Thank you !! That does indeed appear to be the problem. Now to figure out how to remove that stupid Paypal logo from over 400 listings (that's how many it's showing now have it).... anyone know how long we have to do that ??

I plan to stop selling on eBay and to move to another marketplace because of this. They say I have to edit 579 (!) of listings. It means many days of absolutely stupid work. eBay is getting worse and worse every year :((

Don't their managers understand what they are doing? eBay wants to get rid off its sellers to decrease the company's income? I am economist by education and I just can't understand the last decisions of eBay managers. Are they really stupid? Do they have any business education? Don't they understand what they are doing?

Perhaps you can find a script or little program to run on all of your affected source files that should be stored locally where you could enter a block of HTML for it to find and remove it from all listings?

If there is nothing reliable in that regard to be found, it sounds like a great idea for a programming project for someone wanting to get such things under their belts to add to their "resumes".  😄

rubux-books ---- I looked at a couple of your listings & I don't see anything that takes someone off of Ebay, did they say you have to edit all your listings due to "emails, phone numbers, social media links" or for "java script" type stuff ?

I just hung up after taling to a CS rep. 3 of my items were not on compliance. I called and after berating them and telling them some things they are doing are a waste of time for them and us.......he tried to explain me what's going on.

For example. Photobucket closed all the links between them and Ebay. To do so, you need to cough up some money and I am not in the freedom and liberty to pay for that. So, one of my listings had only the link for a picture that usually was shown. Of course, such link is for photobucket and that's not allowed anymore. My questions is: Once we pay Photobucket for such linkage, it is allowed.

What bothers me is how they phrase their emails, almost accusing you of having "contac information" which becomes that famous link to Photobucket. Dang!

If you can copy the pp html, you should be able to do a search and replace with bulk edit.....

your photo listings lead offsite to your own hosting, which *I think* is okay, BUT your site is not https. You also have links to westernbid that lead offsite. One of both of those would be the reason why I would imagine.
