I have a fairly large collection of good costume jewelry that belonged to my mom--like 25 necklaces--and although I read the ebay selling guide about jewelry, it was mostly geared to fine jewelry with precious gems.
Although I am willing to list each piece separately, the time that would take seems labor-intesive for a not-too-great return. But then an auction lot with a bunch of different styles seems not like a good idea. I could group similar pieces together and do a few lots -- I am just not sure. Any advice? They vary wildy--one is a Napier piece that retails for 85; another is fake pearls with no label on it. But my Mom always bought good-quality stuff, so who knows, maybe they are real pearls, lol.
I really can't afford to have them appraised, unfortunately. Basically I am just wondering if it might be worth the time to list each one seperately.
My second question--I do ebay on a PC and can find no link to the community on the home page. Whenever I want to come here, I use google. Am i just missing it?

There are several groups on Facebook to identify costume jewelry and can help you evaluate the value. There is also the Fashion Board here but it seems to be a bit slow.
Also I bookmark Community. Ebay. Com to make it easier to find.

I sell jewelry that I make myself but I list only one piece at a time . You have a slightly different situation . I guess try lumping similair jewelry pieces together in a lot as you mentioned. The others that you suspect may be of higher quality you could sell seperate . You can always change it around if you don't feel its successful enough . Twenty five pieces isn't really a whole lot to list . It may take 3 to 4 hours depending on how fast you can type and how much info about each piece you can add . As far as getting to the forums from a pc , just scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click on the word '' community '' . That will take you to the forums . Good luck ! Tulips

Oh thank you--I didn't even realize there were groups specific to that! Appreciate it!

If it was just listing and typing it wouldn't be too bad--but I have to look each piece up, try to find a maker's mark, all that stuff, lol. Since I know nothing about it, it's all new to me! But now that i know about the community for jewelry, that will be helpful! Thanks!

A little late to this thread, but if you are looking to identify manufacturers marks on costume jewelry, the above site is one of the best imo.
