Question for sellers.
On a item that you can't get any more of. When you get down to your last few or last one, do you raise the price?

Depends on how well the others sold and in what time period. I had multiple Los Angeles Laker's yearbooks that I sat on for well over a year. Then they starting selling quickly and when I got to the last one I doubled the price and it still sold.

Well this is a heck of a time to bring this up when so many are very sensitive over pricing right now!
For me it depends on the item. If I've had trouble moving it in the past, no I would not increase pricing when my inventory became low. But if it is on a item that moves well and I can no longer get the product, yes I will increase pricing, if I am the only one selling the item on Ebay or there is only a couple other sellers with some inventory.
But before anyone gets too upset at me. I don't sell anything that is even remotely necessary for the current Health Crisis. If I had any of that stuff and if Ebay would let me sell it, I'd do it at my cost.

Haha Mam,
Neat disclaimer in the end. I read it and chuckled thinking who would get upset without enough info? But then again I thought... well this IS the ebay boards and at this weird time tensions can be high and people on edge. So Kudos to you.
Anyway, to answer the post. Obviously it depends on the item. But generally I’d say if it’s something I’ve had on the shelves with active listings for a long time, I’d be happy to see it go and make room for something new... leave the price as is. Otherwise I might consider raising the price up a bit. But I usually would put more thought into it than that.
TBH though, I can’t remember a time that I’ve actually done this. I usually just raise my price due to inflation, increased costs, or to keep up with competition. Disclaimer: I never have nor never will sell anything essential. I’m not an essential guy.

Most of my items I bought on clearance rack (or the equivalent off web sites) and by the time the last one sells I'm happy to see the last of it. So no I don't raise the price, I have in fact been known to pull a FP listing if it's got one left and stick it up on Auction at half price and sell to the first bidder. If it doesn't sell I tend to make a bag up and either donate it to the local school or give it to a needy family with bored kids.
Got a lady now that is loving the fact that I'm clearing out the basement... every time I find a opened package (plastic gets old and pops), or get down to the last few I have my daughter drop off a bag of things for her young daughter to do (not found to many things for the older son yet, but it's a 2 car garage I'm sure I will sooner or later). She just found a place to live and was trying to figure out how she was going to do birthday stuff.
We call and warn mom we're going to drop stuff off, Daughter knocks on the door and walks off the porch, mom comes out and picks up the bag. Concept works for food and leftovers as well. (Oldest bro works in cafe inside a hospital that does surgeries only and has been bringing home leftovers (that would have been tossed) what we don't eat we pass on, they are about to close the Hospital since they aren't doing non critical surgeries and are down to less than 11 patients in the entire place)

For the simple fact that I'm low on stock- no.
If I'm getting low on stock and the item is no longer produced- yes, if there's still a demand for that item.

I see no point in raising the price. I tend to move items so I would most likely lower the price to get it out the door.

I have done that in the past, but still trying to maintain a competitive selling price. Currently I can only think of one item that I have in multiples, a low priced item. But these days I am focusing on cash flow while trying to build up a cash reserve to take advantage of what I think will be plentiful buying opportunities once these days of trials and tribulations pass.

I've done that and it reduced the sales velocity somewhat but the items still sold.
and I'm much less willing to entertain offers as my stock dwindles.

Always, especially if the item has been selling and I am the only one with any of said item.
