I had a sale today that was being sent through the Global Shipping Program. I have never had one of these before so I was searching through here and found that most of the posts here about it mentioned that the seller had to choose to be a part of this program. I have never done this. Is this something that eBay is now adding to listings like the Best Offer option? Because it had been a while since that happened then yesterday I received a best offer on a listing. Now today I got a GSP sale. Do I need to go back and check all my listings now?

When eBay first offered the Global Shipping program, the default setting opted sellers in without their knowlege or approval. Later they stopped that practice and became a stable option in Site Preferences. This is the first report that they might have changed that default setting back to opt in? The early days of the GSP, sellers had to keep an eye on that setting cuz it would turn to opt in without warning, on its own volition, even if it was set to Opt Out.

Thank you for the reply. I think another poster might have just posted the same thing or similar. They sold an item that was going through the GSP (if I am reading it right) and they were charged more through PP as well. After reading that one I think I might have been too. It was a $16.99 sale and I got like $15.29 or something like that. That's too much, isn't it?

I just went and looked at a few of my listings and they all have the GSP box checked. I never purposefully put that on there. I have no idea if this has always been on there and I just happened to have someone use it for the first time now. I don't know if I should keep this on the items or not.

GSP is generally a good fit for higher priced and/or heavier items. I don't mess with it for inexpensive, lightweight items.
PP for international transaction is 4.4 + .30
That $16.99 through GSP should have given you $15.94
If domestic, you would've seen $16.19
Only a 25 cents difference.
You can opt out of GSP, but you can stay opted in and pick and choose which items you want to offer through the GSP. It's not an all or nothing deal. I had 2 recent GSP sales and only about 25 of my items offer it.

If you read the info on the GSP, they suggest it works well for items with a $50 threshold. Most sellers would say that $100 is a better threshold due to the customs/duties/fees that are collected upfront.

My listings default to allowing GSP as well. I am so used to listing defaults (for the longest time my shipping would default to the last listed item) that i just know to switch it off if desired. I don't mind shipping GSP in general. But a few times I have been quite surprised what people buy (weight-wise). There was a time when fragiles/breakables were more limited (early in the program) but I've noticed that seems to have changed. So I sometimes switch those off because of the risk of a long shipping period.

**Okay, I am really losing it..evidently I tagged myself, this was meant for you Cherryfizz**
LOL .. I didn't realize you were the OP. Are you wanting to ship with GSP (or not)? I know there are a lot of stories of things going wrong lately. But I have been using it since it started, and have never had a serious problem. I love my collectibles going all over the world.
If you've shipped GSP before...just skip the earlier paragraph 😉 It's late, and I'm taking a break from listing (playing hooky). I would go in and check the listings just to be sure. Not sure if you can use the bulk tool for that. I hope it all works out well for you.

Hi gew! Honestly I don't know if I want to use the GSP or not. I had not intended to use it. I guess I will see how this one goes. All my items are generally under $50 and 90% of them weigh less than 4oz, so it sounds like it is not worth it. I took it off the listings I went in to see if I was offering it, but I still have probably around 100-150 listings between my selling accounts that likely still have it on there, since I have never not chosen (or chosen) the option. I guess I'll figure out what I want to do.

Do you use Seller Hub? If so, on your Listings > Active, one of the search filters is "GSP enabled."
The filter isn't available on Unsolds.

Do you have to opt in to the GSP?
Opt (verb)
to make a choice from a range of possibilities
If you had to use the GSP, the word "opt" would not apply. I sell internationally all the time and have never used the GSP.
But you may need to opt out rather than opt in.
