I nearly always end my auctions on Sunday night. My rule of thumb is whatever the overall bid price for everything is Friday night if I triple it it will be my minimum sales for Sunday. In most cases it is correct and unfortunately it normally will be within $50 of my Maximum also
Do you have any you wish to share?

My rule of thumb is if you want to make a little fortune here you must start with a huge fortune.
Good Luck

When possible I always check a bidder's feedback left for others and retraction record. More than one retraction and they a placed on my BBL. Once placed on my BBL they are never removed from it.

HUH?? (in other words, what you wrote made no sense to me! )
Are you saying that , ack, never mind...can't make heads or tails of it!

P.S...what ARE you saying exactly? whatever your bid prices are for all auctions on Friday night, is within $50.00 of what sales you will make on Sunday??? (somebody toss in a life preserver, please!)

My "rule of thumb" is that if a buyer buys or bids on your item, they most likely want it.

If Friday bids are at $1000 then Sunday final bids will be at minimum of $3000 +/- $50

My rule of thumb is:
The more new listings I put on eBay..
the better my sales.
It gets easy to get (lazy?) and just keep watching what's already listed, and relisted and relisted....

My newest Big rule is:
Keep It Simple (Silly!)
I've been spending tons of time creating my listings...
making sure each picture is perfectly edited for the wow-factor...
making sure that I have ten zillion perfectly accurate words in my descriptions...
spending Way too long making sure there's No one on eBay (current or completed) with a lower price and a better listing than mine.
When I should be:
Maximizing my time, yet still create Effective, as-described listings by:
Not caring if there's a bad shadow on my pictures (as long as the pictures are truly accurate)
Not trying to 'market' my item with all that fancy banter..
Instead.. simply and accurately and briefly describe it.
Thanks,
Lynn

$0 on Friday. I sure hope I can do better than triple that:) But then again 10 times that won't be any better

My rule of thumb is that you should be putting the most time and effort into sourcing your inventory. Listing, taking photos, etc. is all secondary to finding good stuff that has demand.

My rule of thumb #1
Buy low. Sell high.
My rule of thumb #2
Seek to ensure that all surprises are only happy ones.
My rule of thumb #3
Don't be too proud to let your buyer think you're nice but kind of simple.

Rule number 1
Block every buyer who opens a not as described claim. No exceptions.
Rule Number 2, apply rule number one to all scammers and buyers who open false claims.
But don't worry, they'll all come back under new user names and rip you off again. And ebay will be happy to protect them. This company is incredible.

Rules of thumb:
Most people are honest.
Be kind. Respect other’s dignity.
Treat others how you wish to be treated.
