Hi
I buy and sell on Ebay. Any purchase I make, sale i do, question I ask or being asked, offers I make or being made or whatever goes to Ebay message inbox and gets forwarded to my email.
I do (Up to now) check these messages only via my email and have been doing so for 24 years without a problem.
For some reason a dispute message did not get forwarded to my email and I missed it (I did not know the buyer had filed a dispute as I had accepted a return and was waiting for them to return the item to refund).
Ebay closed the dispute I did not know about in their favor saying I did not answer.
The Ebay closed dispute message (They said I lost for not responding) was however forwarded to my email and that's how I found out about this dispute.
We called Ebay and they are looking into it as we clearly got scammed by a buyer (They got their $300 back from us and kept the item when we were waiting for the return).
Is it fishy that Ebay wouldn't forward this dispute message to my email or is it just a glitch? All the messages I got in 24 years ended up in my email inbox including the closed dispute one. But not the open dispute one???
Would Ebay do this on purpose since they like the buyers to win?
I have searched all my email folders and that one isn't there.
After having experienced a couple unfair things from Ebay and reading here and there the horror stories, I am a little skeptic.
Now I do understand if a seller or buyer does not answer a dispute they will lose but understand this is not my question.
My question is, do you think it could have been done on purpose by Ebay or have you experienced anything like this?
No matter what you answer, I will always check my messages daily in the Ebay message system from now on.

@weatherloach As a former e-mail support person, the following are possibilities
a) delay in transmitting the copy of the email to your account. (I've had emails from ebay sometimes arrive several days later -- not sure why)
b) email was sent by eBay, but lost in transit
c) it arrived to your mailbox, but got rejected as spam, junk or possible span ... suggest you check the appropriate folders.
See what e-mail address or addresses eBay uses to send you mail and add them to your email address book for future!
