Do old listing get lost

So I was wondering it seems listings after a couple of weeks go way down the line and get lost to buyers not interested in searching farther than a couple pages.

in the past I make a new listing of the item to get it back to the top, then delete old listing.

Is there an easier way?
Thanks

There are more than a couple "theories" about ending, relisting, adjusting, sell similar, etc...etc...

some say, relist with no changes (to get a short term "Newest" boost)

some say sell similar and delete

some say just edit some specifics to not lose watchers

some say let it ripen on the vine (leave it alone), it gets better with age

some say you can't put lipstick on a pig....so trying to manipulate the search is fruitless...

some say use minimal pictures to engage the buyer to contact you for more

some say use maximum pictures to let the buyer decide on impulse

some say the algorithm will change the day you make changes

some say an algorithm is a style of music

in other words, whatever works for you, either in reality or in your view

as far as your question. If that is the method you are using, that is the only way you can do it, so the answer is "No"

Yes, as a general rule, the older the listing, the further down it's shown in search results.
Promoting "might" slow that decline down somewhat and keep it higher in the search results for a period of time.
OR, Promoting might, instead, bring it back toward the top "more often" than not promoting.
(Hard to say for sure exactly what Promoting does though...not sure anybody knows).

FOR CERTAIN though, after a period of time the listing comes back toward the top of a search result though.
Best I can tell, it's around 90 days for the 1st "re-bump".
Then, if it gets bumped back again, it's a very long time.
I've not really found an easy way around this.  Around the one year point, I end the listing and either wait 60 days and re-list it via "sell similar".
OR, I'll end the listing, then go back into my listing tool where the initial listing is, and change up the title, switch around the pics in a different order, and maybe change the price.  (this makes it a whole new listing that starts all over again)

It would be  great if it was easy, I think like most sites, you pay a little and they move bump you up, so far in 8 years of casual listing the only thing I can think of is sell similar, copy and paste blah blah blah....

Thanks Ya'll

Search to see if anyone has successfully sold the item. See what category and key words they used. Adjust price if necessary. If no one has sold one and you have no watchers, it might be fodder for the yard sale box. Not everything sells.

"It would be great if it was easy..."

If it was easy, everybody would be getting rich here.
