Do Store Owners get Listing Promotions, With the Forced GTC I may have no other option

This GTC is BAD! I had already been thinking about a store. If I get a store, do Ebay still send store owners Free listing Promotions???  If they are not, getting a store will not help either. Store cost monthly fees, then the GTC can still come around and bite you in the rear for auto relisting fees.  Just trying to get ahead of the game. If Ebay wants us to use this GTC, why not let use it and not count the relist as a charge? I think people would willingly accept the change.

How often are you getting them now?  I have only gotten 2 or 3 in the past year.  I am sure others receive them more often.

From this chair, there is no need to get upset about this change to GTC!

1)  There are seller benefits - see the explanation the VP has up in his post

2) If one does some "homework" they can see the true dollar impact on their business.

  • I am guessing that this will amount to no more than 2% of annual sales - a figure that could be budgeted in.
  • Then again, if one looks at the threads in the Seller Update section they can find "work arounds" one can use to avoid any "extra Listing fees" for several years.

But then again, as things change some sellers will adjust and adapt, while others will decide change is bad and just fold up their tent.  What anyone does is a personal decision.

Me?  I was initially against this change, but once I recognized that by listing nothing during the first 10-15 days of a month I could avoid any financial impact from the GTC change for years, then it wasn't as upsetting.  After all if I can avoid fees for two year, what am I doing offering something that won't sell for 2 years?

Also I recognized that only 1/30th of my listings, currently spread evenly across the month, would face the double listing fees in any year and that as a small amount of money in reality that I could budget for.   However, I also recognized that if I canceled all of my listings on the 29th or 30th and then relisted those on the 1st, that I was creating a HUGE industry (work) for myself and taking the exact wrong approach to solving the problem.

But then again , I see many sellers not looking at this as a business problem to be solved and rather reacting emotionally and threatening to leave or jumping on the "obvious" solution that is the wrong strategy which makes needless work.   But hey, we can only try to educate on these boards.  Seller are free to take their own path.

Yes, store subscribers get free listing promotions.  How often?  It is random, some sellers get them every month and some sellers may go months in between promotions.  I do not count on it, even though I get them almost every month.

Ironically, I don't get a lot of free listing offers. A rare bird for me in any of my profiles. I guess I am not the seller they are looking to target 🙂

A lot of the free listings I believe are based upon what you have sold/previously listed and eBay needing products listed in those categories that match the types of products you normally sell. A blue would be better served in answering that question though.

Cheers
