Discrimination

Hello All,

Why is it, that an item I listed, yets yanked within minutes and gets me put on selling restrictions, because of it being a so-called "Assault Weapon" related item, when there are literally tens of thousands of parts related that are listed, yet, they're able to continue selling, year after year? They're selling dozens and dozens of parts...some in the hundreds. If that isn't discrimination, what is?

Re: Discrimination

No ebay employees here.

But don't go by the fact that there are others listed because that doesn't necessarily mean, as you have found out, that the item is Ebay legal.

Check the prohibited items list before you list.

Don't relist it.  It could get pulled again and you could wind up being sanctioned.

"As an actual time saver, we used the exact same title, word for word, as another seller used. With just one to sell. He has sold dozens and continues to do so. "

Just guessing?  but ...

Perhaps when using search to review their listing(s), they easily noticed yours?

Re: Discrimination

How is it, that these so-called prohibited items number in the tens of thousands? And that is no exaggeration. Type in the search box, "Handguard". Over 14k listings appear. And that is only ONE part of the so-called assault weapon.

Re: Discrimination

The fact that listing the item is against 'policy' is one thing, as is speeding.  However, that is where the similarity ends.  ebay doesn't want to hear it, and they don't listen to it.  CS can tell the seller what they want and, if it does get listed again on their say so, the bots will take it down and kill the account.  End Of Line.

However, if one wishes, one can contest a speeding ticket before a real, live, in the flesh, person.  The experience may be good, or it may be bad, or it may be ugly - but the person can have a day in court and be heard, unlike a platform court of justice.

Perhaps a better analogy might be found.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Respect, like money, is only of 'worth' when it is earned - with all due respect, it can not be ordained, legislated or coerced. Anonymous

Re: Discrimination

Please don't take it so hard.  You aren't a criminal.  You just broke a policy and the listing was removed.  Don't list it again as it could be pulled again, and you could be sanctioned.

As for why there are no many other listings up, they have not got to those as yet.  That does not mean they will be up forever, though.

Re: Discrimination

Haven't gotten to those yet? Ebay has 14, 100 employees. When we mentioned all the other listings, the rep said 4 people were working on it. No kiddin', 4...people.

Re: Discrimination

A search of Handguard in the gun parts category nets close to 3K listings, not 14K

And that includes the hand guards that are legal. Your listing must specify the type of gun it fits.

Did you state what type of firearm it's for? For example you have to say fits a (Remington) bolt action rifle if that's the type of rifle it fits.

Assault rifle parts aren't allowed.

Re: Discrimination

I don't know, exactly...

It's murky waters you're in, the whole area to do with weapons.

I'm going back to search for spark plugs now, they're less profitable but so far I've not had a problem with ebay.

Re: Discrimination

Instead of going to a category, just type it in the main search box.

Customer service reps have no idea exactly how many people are assigned to a particular job, especially true with a company with 14,000 employees in dozens of countries.

Do you have any idea how many reports eBay gets each day? Do you not understand that since reporting a listing is easy that a huge number of the reports are not accurate and report things which are perfectly "eBay legal".

Re: Discrimination

Other seller may have reported you. They do that. I've had items pulled that were fine to sell. eBay isn't going to examine each item it pulls. Do not re list it. That can lose you your account. If they decide it's off eBay, it's off eBay, regardless of whether 100 other people are selling the exact same thing. Most likely someone flagged your item. The other seller gets my vote.

Other seller hasn't been nailed yet. No one has reported them most likely. BTW, neither of my pulled items were illegal. One was an antique ox bone brooch and someone claimed it was ivory. It isn't, and another seller had one similar. Yes, their's stayed listed and sold. I still have mine. The other was an obsolete police badge. It was 100% legal to sell, it carried no authority. Another seller turned me in. Doesn't like me selling in the 'boys' pond, it's a 'guy' thing. However, eBay doesn't know or care. I cannot list it again else I risk suspension.

It isn't personal and it probably isn't eBay that flagged you. Someone reported your listing, they do it all the time. I suspect most are legitimate flaggings, wrong category, spamming, fakes, illegal items, eBay has a list of what you can and cannot sell. If your item was legal to sell, someone flagged you. If it was against eBay's policies, then you either got filtered out by the search engine spiders/bots or someone reported it. You will likely never know.
