Disappearing inventory

Has anyone else experienced items you have listed for sale that suddenly disappear from your inventory (as in they were for sale, but now can’t be found under “for sale”, “ended”, “unsold”, “sold”, etc)?

I sell mostly used shoes and boots,  and have a very solid storage / inventory system, and recently noticed multiple pairs of boots I had for sale (and still have stocked on my shoe racks) have been deleted without a trace on my eBay seller account.  They’re fairly obscure, but sought after models and brands that generally sell within a few months at the very most (so these aren’t long tail items that maybe were deleted due to going unsold for years).

I called ebay and they told me my account had possibly been compromised back in May but couldn’t say for sure if that’s what has caused random portions of my inventory to disappear.  They also basically told me tough luck, which is a frustrating and very unhelpful response, since trying to go back through hundreds of items that may or may not have been deleted is a big undertaking for one person. Was hoping someone on here might have more info than the customer service reps.  Thank you!

Re: Disappearing inventory

I can generally ship anywhere in the world for less than what it costs to ship from Texas, US to Canada 🇨🇦

Re: Disappearing inventory

I have an ID which does the Canadian option, and tbh most of my sales listed on the Canada site go to US buyers.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Re: Disappearing inventory

As Ken has said:  backup, backup ...

I write my descriptions in Word and save them.  Then you can copy and paste in the listings.

Same with pictures - copied and saved with title in my photo program.

When ebay sees fit to 'misplace' my listings, they are easy to recreate.

Re: Disappearing inventory

Yes I have seen vanishing listings in the past with no record of them to be found when I know I listed them. To avoid problems I do a stock take of active listings every few months. Actually count whats on your shelves then compare to your active listings qty. One way listings could vanish is if someone didn't relist something after a return, a cancellation or a dispute has ended. But I know for mine some just vanish over time. One has to watch like a hawk and keep a close eye on inventory versus active.

That's odd.
The Canada rate card shows lower prices from US to Canada than from US to (for example) Germany.

I used a $25 value and two pound weight, and the First Class International Package service which is I think the cheapest one with Confirmation of Delivery.
To Germany it was $24.00 to Canada $17.25.

I think a lot of sellers don't realize that there is a different rate card for Canada (and possibly for your other neighbour, Mexico) than for Overseas.

And of course, those using the Global Shipping Program have the complication that the recipient nation's duty and sales taxes , plus a small service charge, are included in the shipping cost.
