I have an instance where I sold a pair of shoes on Saturday, I contacted the customer for payment and they indicated they would pay on Wednesday.  I was irritated but decided to wait, no payment was received and I cancelled the order.  The same customer purchased the same pair of shoes AGAIN within 5 minutes of me cancelling their order.  They still haven't paid....

My thought is to cancel the order again and block them, this seems suspicious.

Any insights???

Unpaid Item policy.  Hopefully you followed this with the first cancellation (buyer did not pay).

Be sure to block people who don't pay.  Also, properly canceling for non-payment gives the non-payer a strike on their account, and many sellers have these blocked for 2 non-payment strikes in a rolling 12-month period - it's one of the few protections we have.   You can do that here: Buyer requirements.

Better yet, skip the best offers and use immediate payment required.

Block them. Could be a competitor trying to tie up your stock. Either way they seem like a game player. Block them.

What reason did you use for canceling the order the first time? What reason are you going to use to cancel the order the second time? You should have added them to your BBL the first time.

You can't cancel for non payment until 4 full days have passed since the buyer's purchase.

Or did you use a different reason when filing for your cancellation?  If so, be very careful when you do that because cancelling for a seller reason results in a defect on your selling account.  Too many of those and you could get sanctions from Ebay.

When you canceled the order the first time, you should have blocked the buyer at that point.  If you had, they would not have been able to purchase from you the second time.

Since today is Wednesday, did you get payment or was the buyer talking about next Wednesday?

Please note:  Unless the shoes were listed with immediate payment required, the buyer has four days to pay and there is no need to hassle him for payment prior to that.  You can cancel on day #5, citing "buyer did not pay" as the reason.

Please do a little more reading about how  this works.

Actually, I did more reading and the buyer did not pay in 4 days.  I cancelled for non-payment, on day 5, and he promptly re-purchased them.

OK, you did the right thing.  It's best to see how this repurchase plays out and don't cancel (the only options for cancellation before the 4 days have passed will penalise you). If the buyer pulls the same thing, then use the same process but be sure to block them. Sometimes people are absent minded, sometimes they are just goofy.

Also, it's not necessary to contact the buyer to see if they will pay - eBay sends invoices and they will either pay, or they will not.  Just let the process play out.

ETA:  Learning to sell here can be kind of a bumpy road.

"Could be a competitor . . ." or it could be the buyer was irritated by the seller pressing for immediate payment and decided to mess with him.  Not saying that's right, just a suggestion.

So you did the right thing the first time around EXCEPT you should have blocked the buyer.

Now that they bid on the item a second time, you still have to give them 4 days to pay, cancel on the 5th day.

Don't forget to block them this time.

Sounds like someone is playing games.  Here's the link to block that person:

Keep your eyes wide as these types will create a new account only to pester you once again.

You May also want to consider avoiding auction style listings.  Fixed price (buy it now) immediate payment required checked off and NO best offers.  That's would I would do anyway. I kicked auctions to the curb years ago and now I'm always paid.

Good luck with future sales.
