I was on vacation last week so I kind of ignored it but a friend of mine alerted me to a survey PP sent about 2 weeks ago with a $10 gift card if you completed it.

When I took the survey many of the questions where regarding ebay manage payments and how I view ebay moving forward.

Seemed almost more about ebay gathering info than PP.

Don't know what to make of it just thought it was interesting.

To me it sounds like PayPal gathering information about eBay usage, so they can come up with a strategy to retain eBay sellers.

PayPal's annual transaction volume is about $575 billion, and eBay sells almost $100 billion of merchandise a year. Losing eBay sellers would take a big chunk out of PayPal's business.

I took the survey 2 days ago with a compensation of $20. At the end it asked if I'd like to join an online chat with further questions for an additional $50 compensation.

The first part of the survey showed the facts behind eBay's managed payments then compared it to what PayPal currently offers. It then proceeded by giving several new options they are considering if you stay with PayPal. At first i got the impression that they were terrified of losing so many eBay sellers but as it progressed I got the feeling that they are way ahead of the game and are up to something huge. It talked about free PayPal branded shipping supplies, a monthly subscription that would provide prepaid labels to sellers using PayPal, cash incentives for increasing your business, personal sales coaches, assistance in transferring current listings to various other sites, etc.

By the end of the survey it felt as if PayPal was ready to launch their own marketplace but that's obviously just speculation. Some of their ideas were very intriguing and innovative.

Maybe paypal is getting ready to buy ebay! That would be a hoot .............
