Who is determining what amount an item is selling for is price gouging? And who determines the products that are essential? I've just had kids multi vitamins listings, elderberry, and vitamin C listings taken down due to a price gouging policy? I've sold many and have all positive feedbacks from buyers. Besides competitors and random users using the price gouging report option, who sits determining what is too much to sell an item for? Sellers are selling the same items for double the amount.. I just dont agree with this. I sell on Ebay to try and make extra money. I dont sell on ebay to lose m ok ney or break even..

I received this message tonight from a buyer. If this right here doesn't say it all I don't know what else does.

You will see the below (this was from Android App on S9+ phone).
Again if they have banned WIPES how come it's the second picture when you get to this page??
Something isn't right here. If it's banned take it off the website!!
Anyone else see the flawed premise here?!?
NOT ALL SELLERS ARE BEING BANNED BY EBAY!
It appears that eBay is now allowing approved authorized sellers to sell essential items such as Face Masks, Hand Sanitizers, and Cleaning Wipes & Pads. So if the essential sanitizing products that some sellers are selling are reasonably priced then all they need to do is contact eBay and receive their authorization.
This seller has been approved by eBay to sell essential goods. They received this email from eBay and posted that email earlier today within this thread.
"We’d like to thank you for continuing to list important items during these unprecedented times.
We’re heavily restricting the sale of all Face Masks, Hand Sanitizers and Cleaning Wipes & Pads from the site in order to remove unreasonably priced listings, also known as price gouging.
Sellers who are not approved to sell items in these categories may have their listings blocked or removed from the site.
You have been approved to continue selling these items, but please be sure to abide by the following requirements:
• Must be listed at reasonable price - no price gouging
• Shipping only available within the US - no international shipping • Fixed Price only - no auctions
• Must be listed in the following categories:
○ Face Masks (disposable and non-disposable)*: Business, Office & Industrial > Healthcare, Lab & Dental > Medical, Lab & Dental Supplies > Disposable Face Masks (257818)
○ Hand Sanitizers: Health & Beauty > Health Care > Hand Sanitizers (177663)
○ Disinfecting Wipes & Pads: Business & Industrial > Cleaning & Janitorial Supplies > Cleaners & Disinfectants > Cleaning Wipes & Pads (183924)
• Do not use Corona virus or COVID-19 in your listings. Buyers will be looking for these items for months and likely years to come. The best practice for listing these items is to list them for every-day life, not specific to Corona virus. Any mention of Corona virus or COVID-19 may cause the listing to be removed.
We will be regularly monitoring the site for these types of items, and if these items are listed outside of the categories above they will be removed, even if the seller is approved."

I went back and checked and you are correct. I am sure they worked a deal with Ebay to not take advantage of people and are not allowed gouge.

Hello everyone,
This thread is getting a bit heated. Please remember that it’s fine to disagree with others, but discussion should always remain courteous and respectful.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Uhm, it is actually true! I’m sure you wish that it weren’t so you could report anything you see but some of us are vetted!
You are putting way too much weight on the act of reporting a listing for whatever reason anyone may have to report that listing. The simple act of reporting a listing does NOT get the listing removed. Ebay is the only one with the power to do that and while reporting a listing does bring it to Ebay's attention, it is the listing created by the seller that would have to breach one of Ebay's rules in order to be closed.
So while you may have a distaste for those that might be reporting listings members have the right to do that. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong. They are doing so within the rules of Ebay. So if the listing is removed, it was the seller's fault for breaching the rule or rules, not the person that may have reported the listing. And that of course is providing that the listing was ever even reported. That is something you can't possibly know unless a member tells you that they reported the listing.
It is likely that most listings that are getting removed for price gouging weren't reported at all. It was just Ebay doing their job.

I have been reporting listings that are pretty obviously blatant. I have seen listings for Lysol disinfectant spray individual cans running 60 dollars or more. with an additional 20 dollar shipping charge. There is an auction going on as I write this for a four pack of spray that has exceeded 1,000 dollars. I am amazed that anyone would be willing to pay that much for it. Flagged them all. Sick of it. If you aren't sure if it's price gouging just google the item and you will get an idea of how much it usually costs.
And the people doing this are the people who stormed the Costcos and Sam's Clubs, snatching crates and cartons off the shelves like locusts just so they could hawk them here later for ridiculously inflated prices so now people who could really use this stuff can't get their hands on it.

It is a new listing as are most of these kinds of listings. Ebay has removed and continues to remove the listings.
