I am so very depressed with the continuous "top tips for selling", "time to re-list", try dropping your pricing by $1" messaging from eBay. My 2019 business was off well over 50% compared to 2018, and is now off 80% since October with no hope in sight. I have tried a multitude of additional tweaks/changes to stimulate sales, yet seems to defy logic that with my longevity, pricing and reputation-still next to nothing activity or sales. With all of eBay's changes, yet total lack of meaningful corrections to assist sellers over the past few years , it's now inevitable that this painful and current trend is the beginning of the end for this platform.

So many of us seem to be in the same boat - a sinking ship that we keep trying to plug the holes with new listings. I'm going to (hopefully not) waste my time by posting several new today. Bills are coming due & I've "earned" $15 US this week thus far. eBay used to be fun. Now it is discouraging, depressing & frustrating. Good luck to us all. 🙂

...............general reply................
my sales stay the same pretty much year after year.I am sure I will sell 2000 items in the next 12 months.the majority of it at auction and a lot starting at $1.My average selling price has dropped to about 100 per item.with a great year it would be 2400 items at 140 each.I prefer to let my customers set the price

I have no proof from what I'm about to say, just observations.
It appears that keeping your 'nose clean', ie. being a good seller, good shipping times, few returns, good feedback, has little to do in placement in the search engine - which changes regularly. It seems to be based on volume.
The first listings show up (depending on what you are searching for) as from China, then a couple of overpriced promoted listings, followed by mega sellers. Some have terrible feedback. So we can no longer depend on past performance to get placement. You have to depend on the spin of the roulette wheel to get placement.
Just my take...

No sales these last 2 days - and there must have been some updates because in the last 2 days I have had to updated over 70 item specifics...this has never happened before and no specific category either - what is going on? nilis13 ----
I wish I knew ,, but at least you're doing better than I am at the moment . I've done everything I know to increase sales here by dropping prices and adding almost double the amount of sale items that I had just two weeks ago. Still nothing is moving . I began about 12 auctions out of desperation and so far only two items have 1 bid each . If no other bids come in I'm going to have to nearly give the stuff away. This is why I don't like auctions and another reason is sometimes the winners never pay. It's obvious potential buyers can see my listings because I've got watchers galore . Some of my items have 6 to 7 watchers . Even on the new stuff I've recently listed has watchers . So I don't get it . I don't know how a seller can go from selling 4 to 6 items a week typically down to absolutely nothing so quickly for no apparent reason. Tulips

Probably so,, because nothing else makes sense .. I've checked the advanced sold listings of stuff in my category and it seems sales are way down there . However the few successful sellers are getting nearly double for the same items . So perhaps if the price is too low buyers think the item is just junk ? If that's indeed the case you'd think they would check seller feedback before coming to that conclusion . I don't know but I'm fresh out of theories at this point . Tulips

Sometimes it becomes so difficult to think up things or combinations of things to try when sales get slow. Maybe you should try raising the price of some of your items? Maybe come in just a dollar or so under the competing sellers you mentioned?

Not being a cheerleader; but for some reason, sales are up 75% the past 30 days vs. LY same 30 days (1/27 to 2/26).. although LY was 15% down vs 2018 and was 1st year down since 2011, although each year we added new items until 2016... Selling automotive aftermarket, brand new only, GTC always.
