Description and Item Specifics Not Showing on Chrome if You Have an AdBlocker

I do more selling than buying, but today I was looking for something specific, and was surprised to find that the item description and the item specifics are not showing on the listing page in Chrome (with adblock.)

At first, I was all irritated thinking "Wow. Now sellers aren't even writing descriptions," but then I realized NONE of the listings I looked at had descriptions. Crazy. 

Then I checked a few of my own listings. NO DESCRIPTIONS. NO ITEM SPECIFICS.

They do show on Safari. And, they do show if I turn off adblock on Chrome.

The seller profile and feedback do show prominently, where the description would normally be. (You used to have to click on the seller feedback number to expand to this view.)

I think the item description is more important than seller feedback. Humpf.

I wondered why I was getting questions on items that were clearly answered in the item descriptions.

I'm embarrassed to think that those potential buyers might have thought I couldn't even bother to write a description.

Also, on Safari, (and Chrome minus adblock,)  the description is way down on the page, under "Similar Items" and "Explore Other Items." You have to scroll wayyyyy down to see it. I think it would be easy to miss.

This seems like a really serious potential issue. I can easily imagine someone buying an item and not realizing it has defects, etc, that a seller has honestly described, but IT'S NOT SHOWING BECAUSE there is NO DESCRIPTION!

Maybe this is a recent programming / layout mistake - why does it always happen on the weekend, leading to a lot of nervous trepidation and IRRITATION VERGING ON ANGER for several days??

Yes, happening to my listings too, and I use Chrome with Adblock.  Pausing Adblock makes the description come back.  Too bad Adblock doesn't actually block all the crappy ads eBay puts on your listing, but blocks your description instead.

yes lots of people keep saying the same thing, and for some it's not related to the adblock too. Ebay changed something in the code and its acting up on firefox and chrome. Brave browser is working currently, but buyers shouldn't have to switch around to buy things. So much for making sales this weekend, thanks ebay

It seems to vary for some reason.  I use AdBlockPlus and have no trouble seeing item specifics or descriptions .... but starting Thursday night, I began seeing extreme sluggishness to open listings or anything else in the 'public' (buyer-facing) side.  -My seller account navigation was completely uneffected.  

I have found that disabling ABP for eBay is also the solution to the sluggishness.  So whatever they did on Thursday seems to affect different people different ways, but ABP seems to be the key factor in all.

   I am on chrome with an adblocker and am experiencing the same thing, sort of. When I scroll down to see the description I get a glimpse of it and then it disappears leaving a blank space.

   I came here to see if others were experiencing the same. 

   Yep just opened another window to do a search  and when I pause my adblocker the descriptions are there.

   Websites seem to hate adblockers so I gues we'll see if this is a glitch or intentional.

   Other sites just put up a banner whining about my adblocker and make me turn it off if I want in. Usually the ones with the most annoying ads and popups................

I just came to see if anyone posted this!  I just got a question, went to cut the relevant info out of my description & it's not there.  So, I checked all my other listings & all my descriptions seem to be gone 😮  Went looking at others listing & some are there & some are gone.   On Chrome with Adblock.  This is a major issue if no one on Chrome can see descriptions!  Very strange that I'm seeing them on some people's listings & not on others though.  Of course, it's a weekend 😡  I'm not even getting a glimpse of it like @roccotacodad54  mentioned.  I noticed something weird yesterday took, but I think I could still see the descriptions yesterday.

   I just checked again and like you say, some show and others don't with my adblocker on. They all show descriptions with it off.

   Something that needs to be fixed for sure.

   It would be nice if this and other sites would just accept the fact that people use adblockers, VPN's and other privacy/nuisance software and addons and configure accordingly. I can only hope............

Yup, I was just telling my DH about the issue & that some ppl think it's "fixed" b/c it can be exempted & so I tell him it affects any buyer using Chrome & Adblock & he says "so, you mean like pretty much everybody" LOL.  Maybe this is why after several days of stellar sales, things have come to a halt.  No one can actually see my descriptions 🙄

Yes having same problem just realized it tonight. I was looking for an item and everyone I checked no description. I am on Microsoft Edge and I have a ad blocker which most people probably have. Is Ebay even aware of this and trying to fix it?

Yup, minus the handful who've seen discussions about it here in the Community, maybe a few more on Facebook and other social media sites.  But for untold millions of others ...... 
EDIT: by the way they don't even have to be using Chrome, just an ad blocker.  -I'm on Firefox, this^ person is on Microsoft Edge, etc.

I had problems with Ad Block affecting something on my Sold page starting Thursday after a Microsoft update on my desktop. It could be affecting more that I'm not aware of.

Just wondering if others having problems also had the Microsoft update at that time.
