You also have the option to click on the picture you are thinking of deleting, and a rudimentary "Edit Photo" option comes up (at least on my laptop - not sure if using the app). You can tinker around with the brightness, contrast and sharpness, if that's the only concern you have. Then if you are happy with the way the photo looks, you click "Done" and you don't have to delete anything.
After uploading my photos into a listing using my laptop, I use eBay's rudimentary editing option this way on nearly all of my photos, as eBay darkens all of them when it uploads them into the listing.
I wish more sellers would use this rudimentary, but very easy option right there in the photos section of a new listing, especially rotation of a sideways or upside-down photo that is so easy to correct. Leaving a photo sideways or upside down, or too dark, shows me a sloppy seller.
