December makes for lots of impatient buyers...

If I didn't need the sales (since I was closed for a month in Oct/Nov), I would just shut shop until Dec 26.

Mail is taking longer, since Black Friday my shipper has been excessively busy and things are disorganized enough that stuff is being delayed for days. The agent at my local Stallion Express Branch tells me Mississauga is way behind in processing (that's where my packages go next).

I'm impatiently waiting for tracking to show things delivered, and I'm not the only one. The buyers are impatient for their packages more so than the rest of the year. Don't people know close to Christmas mail slows down?

I don't sell lots of Christmas presents which is good, most items are things people buy for themselves, so at least if it doesn't get there for Christmas I won't get any "you ruined Christmas" messages. I didn't grow up with Christmas so I fail to see why this holiday gets people so uptight. In my family "holidays" were about getting together and eating food and catching up with family after not seeing them for a while. This need to spend money one does or doesn't have on presents just didn't happen.

It's fairly easy to set up a tree and wrap a bunch of shiny boxes.. however, to do it every year is another story.

People do get hung up on value and it's these relationships, anchored in excessive money, that are volatile and unfortunate. To rely on the amount you make to sustain your relationships - it can only really be done as a form of politeness, but after a while should be forgotten for the sake of all involved.

A lot do not. They are buyers and as buyers some may purchase minimum amount of stuff each year and don't realize that this is the holiday season which means a slow down in delivery time due to the amount of packages carriers have to deliver. You do have a lengthy estimated delivery date which is good in your case deal with impatient buyers. It is the buyers responsibility to know that there is a delay and read all delivery details you listed. It is also there responsibility to ask you a question in regards to delivery time so if they are purchasing as a Christmas gift they know the time frame. If you get messages like "you ruined Christmas" don't feel bad you did what you could and suppose to do. It's out of your control. They should purchase locally or a month in advance.

I just checked one listing at random with a California zip for shipping... it's saying Dec 12 to 17 (then says that includes 5 days handling... Dec 12 is less than 5 days from now, so I don't get how you can include 5 days of handling and expect it to be delivered in 4 days). Another thing with the programming that isn't working well.

I had gone and looked after you mentioned my long delivery time to see what buyers would see, and if a buyer in California actually thought they might get their item on Dec 12, I think they'd be disappointed.

I do try to ship fast though, despite the 5 days of handling. Realistically I ship within 2 days, maybe 3, pending on work schedule. If something sells late Thursday night it will probably ship on Monday since it will be too late to pack it up for Friday's shipping on account of having to get up and go to work in the morning (and not packing it until I get home).

For work I am a purchasing manager and I am in charge of hundreds of orders on a weekly basis from all over the place. Every year around this time at least a third of my orders get delayed anywhere from a day or two, to a few weeks. Every year I let the workers who request the orders know that during the holidays it is common to expect delays and to plan accordingly. Yet every year I get employees being irate and irrational even though we've been through this for over 5 years in a row since I started in this position. Hounding gme day in and day out (even when I give them the tracking number so they can track it themselves). People just suck, that's it.
