Dear ebay support team. I am a private seller on ebay.com, a resident of Lithuania and my goods are in Lithuania, not in Germany. And I do not sell on the ebay.de website. And my sales are not big. But I have encountered a problem where I cannot put my goods up for sale and I cannot even adjust the already put up goods. For some reason, I am asked to register as a business seller in Germany when I try to fix something. Before that, I did not receive any notifications on this issue. I hope for your help. @ebay support

eBay is not here.
No CS will see this post.
This is also the eBay .com boards.
US boards.
You may want to post on a EU board.
A seller there may be able to help you.

@lili_budr, did you receive an email or message about this?
Please let us know exactly what the message said.

I stumbled upon this moments ago as well when trying to list with bulksell (ebay.com, located in Sweden).
"We recently reached out to you about a change in German VAT law and your need to identify as a business seller. Please upgrade your account to business in order to continue listing on the German site or items located in Germany.{e243729-1269883x}"
I have not received any information recently. I do remember a couple of years ago (one or two, I think) when this originally came to effect, I was told my items would not be visible in Germany unless I upgrade my account to business and I don't recall having any buyers from there since (doesn't matter to me).

Are you using eBaymag?

@lili_budr and @howe1850,
What if you just upgraded your account to a business account? Could you try doing that, and let us know if it solves the issue?
Is there some reason you don't want to use a business account?

there was no message, only when I wanted to make an audit, they immediately wrote -

To upgrade your account to a business account, you need to be a taxpayer in your country, where they issue a taxpayer number, which you need to indicate in eBay.

It appears that some private sellers' accounts who live in the European Union are being reviewed, and if eBay determines that they are actually operating as a business, then they are being required to upgrade their accounts to business accounts in order to continue to sell on eBay. If you feel this assessment is not correct, you can appeal the decision by contacting eBay customer service.
This is because of the Digital Services Act (DSA), a law in the EU, which eBay is required to comply with. Here is the information from eBay.com about this. eBay has until the end of this year (2024) to ensure that businesses selling in or to the EU comply with the DSA and provide the required information about their businesses.

The best explanation I can find about how eBay determines if a seller is acting as a private seller or a business seller is on eBay Germany (see below). They apparently began to comply with this (and/or a similar German legislation) early, but the DSA is now being implemented for all of Europe. So this applies to all sellers who live in or sell to Europe, as it says in the link above.
For those who don't speak/read German, the screenshots show a gisted translation provided by Firefox. In the translation, "commercial" means "business", and "mark" means "upgrade" (referring to a selling account).

Hello, I am trying to solve similar problem - being Lithuanian citizen I would like to sell some items in Euros, but still struggling to find the way 🙂 I opened ebay account in Ireland for that, but in selling section, I only se Dollars. Do I understand correctly, that it is only possible if I register as business seller?

Do you mean that when you try to list items, the selling currency is dollars?
If yes, that means that you are trying to list on www.ebay.com, which is eBay USA. All items listed on eBay.com are priced in US dollars.
In order to list and sell items that are priced in Euros, you have to be logged on to an eBay website in Europe, like www.eBay.ie, eBay Ireland, or www.eBAy.de, eBay Germany.
If you still have questions about this, you should start a new thread about it, because this thread is old and will probably be closed soon.

Thank you, but I have registered on ebay.ie, and here on the listing page I see the same - dollars, a bit frustating 😄
