My sales are dead for 2020. At this rate i'm going to have to pack up and leave eBay. I've made literally zero in sales in 2020 so far, the worst in more that 20 years. Ebay is a dead marketplace, that's for certain.

Sales dropped right after the 2019 spring seller update and have just continued to decline. My guess is that people dont like the check out page and cant find what they need when using the search bar. I shop on ebay every once in a while . I hate that it takes 3 pages for me to pay and i also hate that i have to scroll through endless drop shippers listings that are all exactly the same to find a seller i want to buy from. I usually get tired of ebay and switch to amazon for purchases. All it takes for the loyal ebay buyer to switch to amazon is one purchase and they most likely are never coming back......
01-23-2020 04:01 AM
All scammers is continue to buy and return items ask for partial refunds and
i have return buyer he send totally deferent item and Ebay send refund I am desipointed I love to sell now all buyers ask for huge some tames 60% or even 70% discount and if you are ignored emails thay send you nasty emails and ask for respond?????

I am reposting everything I wrote for this post:
Dark Clouds coming in 2020 under the Managed Payments!
Got a very disturbing letter from eBay's Managed Payments, and it's not good!
Lets take each point at a time, and read between the lines.
THEY SAY:
$1.1 Billion in payments managed with eBay and over 20,000 sellers participating!
I SAY:
That's eBay's way of floating for days with the sellers cash in excess of $1.1 Billion
dollars – imagine when all of the sellers are in this horrible Managed Payments system!
THEY SAY: More Ways To Pay!
I SAY: We've all heard this old bromide – but what they mean is Pay Pal has been gutted!
THEY SAY: Experience Improvements:
You will love these – here's a good one:
THEY SAY: New Private Community only for you to ensure you have access to the latest information
and a dedicated space to engage with other managed payments sellers as well as provide us direct feedback.
I SAY: What they mean is they don't want anymore public forums so the general public at large can't see how evil their business practices have become!
THEY SAY: Expanded International Reach! Because in 2020 managed payments will support the CBT!
(Don't you love how businesses have adopted militaristic abbreviations for things!)
I SAY: CBT = “Cross Border Transactions” Google this little gem! They want to go beyond the VAT tax, and also in conjunction with CBT we will also have GSP! Which means eBay will have total control over the sellers international sales! The shipping fees will increase and the CBT taxes will be added just like the States sales taxes have been added now!
THEY SAY: (This is the very best one!) “Flexibility for pay out timing” “you can choose to configure your payouts to automatically deposit directly to your bank when you want them, as soon as funds are available (typically 2 business days) as you do today, or with new choices of weekly or monthly deposits!”
I SAY: This is a whooper of a lie to begin with! Right now it can take 7 days for the money to reach your pocket! In 2020 if you read the paragraph they will only have two payment choices 1, weekly or 2, monthly! Give me a break what merchant in the world gets paid once or twice a month for selling their products!
This managed payment system is the biggest joke ever perpetuated on smaller or even larger American sellers! After joining MP since September 11th of 2019 (this year) my sales are even worse, the fees for selling a $19.99 item is $3.33 in fees! The money takes 7 days to reach my bank! I have a dozen overdrafts and I had to stop all of automatic payments from my credit cards etc. I had to borrow cash to pay my bills and the eBay bill!
The typical sales figures for the last three months of the year for many years now have been almost $5,000 per month gross receipts – in 2019 so far my gross sales for all three months are $6,000 gross receipts! Something is wrong! They are not promoting my best items, when I searched one of the best items I have for sale now, it was on page ten, last item in the Google search!
No Japanese buyers now for months! I had a small but good solid world wide customer base, and I've seen almost nothing! I think I had three orders from the UK in three months!
Talked to many people at eBay about my problems and lack of cash flow, and they say sellers will all have to adjust to the new payout system! Last month without my permission eBay went into my bank account and withdrew over $600.00 in fees, because my B-of-A card on file was tapped thanks to eBay. Currently I am in a desperate situation and I don't know what to do?
Another thing, what merchant on earth would sell you a collectible, let's say a baseball card, or a LP record, and guarantee you can return it with 30 days money back! So the buyer can hold on to the item, and do whatever they please with the item, and on the 29th day return it! Some new dumb sellers out there who have less than a fifty sales in half a year are Top Rated because they joined the 30 day returns thing, when older established sellers who have been on for years, but who are not dumb enough to fall for the 30 day return thing are placed after these new sellers in searches!
Moreover, a final value fee on shipping, this has been going on before the horrible Managed Payments thing, and it should be against the law! They say it keeps the shipping fees down, honest and in-line! I say, if a buyer is dumb enough to pay an obvious over inflated shipping fee that's none of eBay's business! But what they really don't want sellers to do is, to make too much money – it's a controlled market place where eBay decides if you win or lose! Back in the day, eBay was way more of an open market space, sure there were rip-offs but they failed and fell off, and the honest sellers trying to make a living – we are all still on eBay, still trying to make sales payoff!
But wait there's more, under managed payments as of now you can not sell some items:
But why can't we sell these? (this is not a comprehensive list)
Adult only items, including movies and video games, even the old 8mm silent movie reels of porn are restricted!
Coins and Paper money!
Motor Vehicles (Are you kidding me!)
Wine????
there are others but these are strange, coins are big biz on eBay, or so I thought? They said their
lawyers have to work out things with the credit cards companies, and in the case of coins with other countries. You mean they designed the Managed Payment system, but never thought about these consequences in selling these items? You gotta be kidding me, right?
I could go on, but why? Ask your selves these questions:
“Is my career as a seller on eBay coming to an end?”
“Can I sustain and adjust to the new payouts and platform in 2020?”
“Are my profits shrinking – and am I just working for eBay instead of working for myself?”
As of the first quarter in 2019 eBay revenue of $2.6 billion; GMV of $22.6 Billion! While sales are slowing down to a crawl, even with horrible sales we sellers still brought in 22 billion in merchant value! That's nothing to sneeze at! Total sales in 2018 was close to 38 billion!
In many was eBay can almost be looked upon as modern day pirates, who instead of pulling up in a ship and taking all of the peoples riches, they simply convinced folks to empty out their closets, attics and garages, flock to thrift stores, swap meets, flee markets and estate sales like vultures, pillaging anything of potential value! Once auctioned off anything of real cash value that was bought by rich people all over the globe, and thus draining the common person of their possessions. It's getting mighty slim pickings out there these days, and if the collectible categories are themselves not all over saturated or over priced! Many have reached their dying end because the 20 somethings who might enjoy having these old things have no extra money to spend! Within a few years as the baby boomers start to die off, it' going to be a buyers market for pennies on the dollar!
Now don't bite my head off, but there will even come that day when a generation comes along will not
even want a copy of an Elvis or The Beatles LPS or CDS! And you won't be able to get five bucks for
a “White Album” - everything comes to and end, even the Roman Empire Fell! From 1995 until a few years ago eBay was doing alright! But something has happened, something has changed and it may just
be the end of an era!
Debbie Martinez
Worse than you think! For a third month in a row eBay has gotten in my bank account
when I told them I couldn't pay this months fees! They went ahead, took almost $600.00
out, left me with no money for Christmas, and five overdrafts (Because I only had $150.00
in there) – my bank is ready to suspend my account! I have to work in the morning and I have no money for gas! I have to ship my orders and I have no cash – as soon as eBay sends me any cash, my bank takes it! My credit cards are toast because the first month in the Managed Payments helped to destroy my ability to pay, because the first payments took over 7 days to reach my bank! I'm sitting here scared and I have rent on the first, and I am broke! My Christmas sales on eBay are horrible. Again you can call them, but nothing will happen! I don't know what to do???? Worst Christmas
Day of my life! All because of this stupid Managed Payments thing!
Debbie
Today my problems are worse, I had to send my buyers the following message:
Please forgive me for this horrible delay in shipping
all of the orders are boxed labeled and ready to ship,
eBay has taken all of my money out of my bank account
and I have been penniless since before Christmas!
Managed Payments has almost put me on the street!
I have no safety net! Rent and storage is due, and I
have nothing! I should get a deposit from eBay
which a few days! If you can stay with me, I will
ship ASAP! If you want a refund I can do that.
You've been such a wonderful buyer, and I feel
rotten, but that's the situation. Already in January
2020 eBay's fees so far in just a few days are more
then I have made on sales! I have 24 packages
that need to be shipped! And I don't know what to do
but ask for your understanding! I have never
ever been in this much trouble before in my life!
I ask you to please read the threads I have
attached to this email.
Debbie Martinez
PS They "eBay" said why not open another account, and start listing there, until Managed Payments
take over!!!! (in the spring) OR join SQUARE CAPITOL so I can run up another debt!!!
Yesterday my b/f phoned eBay and this guy started yelling at him,
trying to tell us what to do, like open a new account! Today
a nicer young lady told us the same thing, and suggested things,
but it's all nonsense, she said eBay sales are not down, and most
of the people in Managed Payments LOVE IT! They just don't
go on the blogs! But she said eBay was very concerned with
what sellers say! When I told her our international customers
have disappeared – she asked “are you in Globe shipping?”
my b/f said “We've been in the mail order business long before
eBay, and we don't need any help from Globe Shipping!
You would have to be an idiot to join anything else eBay
offers at this point! They are automatons! That goes for just
about everything on Earth now! Call centers are all over
the world! You mean companies here in the USA can't hire
it's own citizens to answer phones! 2020 has not started out
good for me! Now we're going to war with Iran! Great!
Debbie - venting again!
Good Morning fellow eBay suckers!
UPDATE
Managed Payments!
For the first time in 14 years I got 2 returns
in one day!
To make matters worse I have 27 items
that need to be shipped, and because
eBay took over $600 from my bank account
before Christmas 2019, I still have no operating
cash, I can't buy supplies, boxes are ready to
ship! Calling them at this point will only
start a verbal altercation, and their automatons
will never – ever – give you a solution in
the sellers favor!
I have sent apologizes to my buyers for the
delay in shipping along with these links.
Many of the “new” buyers under managed
payments are pushy A-holes! They treat me
like I'm supposed to be another Amazon!
So far with the exception of one buyer,
all of my returns where from credit cards
and buyers I have never done business with
before! Most of the returns are differently
“cheat backs” If I don't ship soon, I will
start getting cancel requests – and I have
no money!
So far in 2020 January (it's the 6th today) eBay
has made more money on my sales than I
have!
Here is my current break down:
what I owe them so far in fees
$191.47
Total gross sales last 7 days
$362.08
On January 4th thy payed out $139.82
This morning I have $16.00 and no more
overdrafts. Question is did they take the
refunds back out of my bank account?
There was supposed to be more funds this
morning?
If this is the case, it means that it can take
over 7 days to get paid under Managed Payment, but eBay
can withdraw from my bank account
and take the cash instantly! How interesting it that.
The screaming dude A-hole we spoke with
last week, blamed by bank for the slow deposits from
Managed Payment , but he's lying! He knows nothing!
So my pending funds are $54.29 and this will
take 7 days to reach my bank account.
I can't pay rent, my storage unit it due in six days!
I can't even put gas in my Jeep!
Things are looking very dim!
I'm going to send a letter to their legal team
outlining what has happened, so we'll see
and I will publish their response IF I get
one!
Our country is in trouble, and nobody
is doing anything about it, not Trump
or the Demarcates or the Republicans
the Congressmen and Senators all work
for the property interests and the big oil
and if you study history they have wanted
the Caspian Sea, and Baghdad since before
World War One.
We are doomed!
Debbie
OH NO MORE STUPID S____T FROM EBAY READ THIS GUYS & GALS: MANAGED DELIVERY
Managed Payments wasn't enought for them BEWARE!!!!
eBay described the benefits for sellers as follows:
02-07-2020 07:41 PM
It's only a joke if you believe it's a joke. No different than any of the 1,000 slow sales threads where people throw tantrums if their Barry Manilow 8 track tapes and Clive Clusser paperbacks don't sell.
02-13-2020 07:49 PM
BTW I would never - ever sell - Barry Manilow 8 track tapes and Clive Clusser paperbacks!
I have way more class than that!
maybe your sales are great, that's good for you, but under managed payments, and from 2019 till now
sales suck! (Period)
Go buy your own Barry Manilow 8 track tapes somewhere else!

Sorry but I've never sold Barry Manliow tapes or Clive Clusser paperbacks - nor have I complained of slow sales for my first 19 years on eBay.
But things changed in March 2019 - first with a multitude of technical glitches, and then with a steady sales decline that is continuing in 2020. February 2020 is on track to be the 12th month in a row of fewer sales than the prior year despite comparable number of listings.
I suspect that the fact that I refuse to pay for promoted listings and rarely offer "free" shipping or returns has a lot to do with my declining sales. But I'm not going to play eBay's games.
02-27-2020 04:35 PM
I feel sorry for you but I hate to tell you but the stuff you are attempting to sell ended awhile back. People no longer collect many of the things you're trying to sell. You may want to just take your loses now while you still can. It's not Ebay, buyers just do not collect many of those things anymore. The old days of listing anything are long gone and my guess will never return.
02-27-2020 05:54 PM
I am not selling as much as I was before eBay made it so easy for buyers to quickly find the seller who has the lowest price.
And, when eBay started charging sales tax for most states, my sales decreased even more.
I am beginning to think that customers will choose to buy at the lowest price when it takes only a few seconds for them to find the lowest price. And, when they can no longer buy tax free on eBay, they will more often choose to buy somewhere else.
Also, buyers have a wider choice of large venues to buy from than they had a few years ago.
02-27-2020 06:30 PM
I don't think it's going to change for all of us who have to struggle on here. eBay only works for the big time sellers now. The rest of us can't get enough customers to become big time. I have enough to post 1000s of listings but, I can't afford all the fees that go with listing that many. If I could sell, at least, 30% of my items on here, I could grow. Selling about 3% gets me no where! This week really showed me I'm not going to dedicate much time to selling here now. I've had 1 sale all week & this was from a regular buyer who returns every 2nd week. If it was his off week, I have ZERO "earnings" in 5 days. Most of the time, I average 0-2 sales a day. Lucky to avg. $20 a day. My strategy is going change shortly & it won't include eBay. I was just given 1,000 free so, I'll try those. After that, I cut WAY BACK on trying to make a buck on this useless site. eBay is a true example of life. The rich get richer & the poor get poorer. Good luck to us all. 🙂

I don't do any of those things either, yet my sales are still chugging steadily along. If you're selling things that people want to buy at prices they're willing to pay, they'll find your stuff.
