Damaged item return after 24 days.

I sold a item 24 days ago. The buyer just opened a return against me for item arrived damaged.  They uploaded photos. It’s the same item but it’s not the one i sent. It’s has marks on it that mine did not have. It also is missing marks mine had. The serial number is out of focus in their photo. eBay is not helping. They said to work it out with the buyer. Ebay also said they do not have the item so they can’t help. I have yet to respond to the buyer. I don’t know what I should do. If I accept the return can give ebays address to send it to. That why they have the item to make a ruling. I would not inform the buyer that it’s going to eBay. Is that possible? Any help would be great thanks.

Re: Damaged item return after 24 days.

If you have photos of serial number in your listing then request clearer photo if you plan on just refunding without requiring return. If you are going to require them to ship back then accept return. If serial numbers do not match up then fight the case at that point. All you can do and you will probably still lose so if not an item of value. refund them and move on or put more money out of pocket and force them to send back the wrong item. Let me guess all photos are clear, but the serial number photo? Oldest trick on Ebay.

Buyer does not have to help with a postage claim

This is a user to user board not eBay employees.

I like that as a message to send the buyer... it's right on!

Always good to give the scamming buyer a little homework to do... maybe it will change their mind about following through with cheating the seller!  One can always hope...
