Damaged by USPS

I have  been reading several posts and I  am very upset that it appears the item I sold to my buyer was deleivred  to buyer damaged.  I took extra measures to insure the safely of the item in the box when I shipped it. I spent extra time and money with addtional bubble wrap, and still my item was delivered damaged. This is very upsetting on all levels.  I cannot replace this item to the buyer, adn I need to refund her the entire amount of the sale including shipping. WHat good does it do to file a claim with the USPS as E-bay suggests. I dont get it,  why  do we have to pay twice and be the losers here.  What advise   does anyone have?  I have tried evrything, including marking the box fragile, and it still gets delivered damaged. This is the 3rd incident in 3 months.

USPS insurance no longer covers the postage on damaged shipments; only on lost shipments.

Re: Damaged by USPS

Its a true statement damaged items shipping is not refunded due to service was provided. Lost items shipping is refunded due to failure to provide service paid for....

peanuts need to be packed tight. pile them in and then shove them down. If something is super fragile like a figurine, make sure to double box it.

One thing that needs to be kept in mind about peanuts is that they settle. You may have filled the box to the top when you first drumped the peanuts in, but soon enough space will appear between the top of the peanuts and the top side of the box, and it won't be a snug fit anymore.

Re: Damaged by USPS

Bag packing peanuts in "pads" to keep them from displacing too much or annoying the recipient. I use a heat sealer and use whatever poly bags/plastic sheet I have handy to make custom "peanut pads" for specific situations.

Re: Damaged by USPS

I recently filed an claim and received a settlement.  I got only the value of the item, not the shipping cost.  Cost of doing business but at least I didn't lose the item value which was significant.  BTW, I was not required to send any pictures.  I just filed the claim and got payment.  I will add that I had paid for the additional insurance since the item was over the $50 automatically covered.
