DEC 2024 SALES - BOOM or BUST??

So, was it a Merry Christmas or did Scrooge come early this year? How were your December 2024 Sales?  Boom or Bust?

Bust for me.

Down 10% compared to last year.

Boom for sure.  I shut down on Dec 15 but that first 2 weeks was great, up 28% over same period last year.

Up 78% this month so far over same period last year.  Probably not saying too much since I don't sell much to begin with.

Total sales up 36% and quantity up 58% from the prior month.  My numbers compared to last year don't count, as I was still just part time and selling only tarot decks.  

All in all it's been a good year, glad to be back to full time.

I won't know for sure until the 31st, trying to squeeze out a few more sales with percentage off sale right now. Generally, though my whole year is down by over 30%. Partly, because my wasn't inventory as good and I believe,  all the promoted items on my holiday listing pages and ebay's AI equity progam helped the slide. I have never seen so many offer retractions and non-payments stemming from my more common items. Plus, I noticed buyers purchasing  the same item from another sell for more when my item was in better shape with original box, etc.  My scarcer items did just fine.

Even with the higher cost of postage, sales were up over last year, so I guess it is a boom.

A 'boom' as I am again an uncle to number 5 of the same clan during Christmas...

All are boys and are fantastic....Babysitting 4 boys and now number 5 comes at Christmas time.

I am somewhat an expert changing diapers of 3 at a time...LOL

A planned bust for me.

Normally November/December is slow since I don't sell mass market or giftable stuff, with Boxing Day through March being the busy season.

But with the Canada Post strike, I was closing listings on all my accounts, and trying not to sell.

First I closed all my PLs.

Then everything with Views in the past month.

Then everything with Watchers.

Then everything that was Closing Soon.

I have been relisting from my Unsolds at about 50 items  a day, adding a few Best Offers, and may soon make some targeted Offers, when the PO is over the holiday rush.

I might even choose a few new PLs, but still at the 2% minimum.

Things are not back to normal, but sales are coming in at about half the usual rate.
