Customer Service

Customer Service for eBay has degenerated to the worst level of any company I have ever dealt with.    A buyer purchased an item without reading the description but yet wanted to keep the item but have me return $75 from a $175 purchase.    He threatened to leave negative feedback unless I complied.    I refused, he left the feedback, I reported the extortion to eBay.    EBay completely ignored the extortion attempt, allowed the negative feedback to stand even after I took the item back.    2 calls to eBay several days apart (after fighting for 45min. with the automated system to connect me to an agent) resulted in assurances that the negative feedback would be taken down within 24hrs.    5 days later it's still there and now eBay refuses to connect me to an agent.    The term "Customer Service" should be eliminated and replaced with another term I hesitate to mention here.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

Feedback is important to me.

I would never ask customer service for help.

However, I think it might take more than 5 days to have a feedback removed. Perhaps someone else here might be able to answer that.

What would I have done?...Just me...my own opinion...refund $75. for not getting bad feedback.

It used to be years ago customer service can see the emails back and forth between seller and buyer and change feedback immediately. Not sure what CS does now...if they still do that.

@broadstreet3

Do NOT call eBay, instead use the links @femmefan1946 provided.

I had the same (almost exact) situation last week. I messaged eBay for Business FB page and my issue was handled pretty much immediately. They can read all messages between you and the buyer.

Doesn't matter if it is $5 or $500 that the buyer demands. Anyone who gives in to these threats is only making it worse for others. This sort of activity should always be reported so the buyer doesn't just keep getting away with it.

A few weeks  ago I used the online feedback removal request.

I swear within about 2 minutes the negative feedback was gone.

I reckon not all requests get done that quick.

I guess I just lucked out.
