Currency Conversion Fee

Hello Sellers---When we still used paypal, I had a sale to a person in New York.  He was a student, had an apartment in New  York, and I live in Colorado.  After the transaction was completed, I saw that paypal charged me a currency conversion fee because the buyer paid with a foreign account.  Does eBay managed payments also charge a currency conversion fee if item shipped from US address to another US address if paid with foreign currency ?  (I think it probably does).  Is there a way to block foreign currency payments ?  I am able to block  international sales, so  I  would like to block foreign currency to avoid the fees.  Thanks

Currency Conversion Fee

@boscobosco12   In PayPal Sellers could block foreign funding sources, in Managed Payments Sellers can not do that.  Hopefully eBay will implement the way to do that.

Currency conversion fees happen when currency is converted regardless of the platform ... its a money thing ... and somebody has to pay it ...

You are located in the US.  If you were selling on ebay.com, the US$ site, Paypal did not charge you a currency conversion fee.  They charged you their 1.5% cross-border fee to receive payment from a non-US account.

eBay's Managed Payments has a similar fee .... their 1.65% international transaction fee.

Paypal allowed us to block payments from non-US accounts.

eBay's MP has no such block.

About currency conversion...

As long as you are selling on eBay.com you will be paid in US$.

Currency conversion, if necessary, would be the buyer's responsibility.

Yep, that's correct. The OP was asking about the international fee even though they referred to it as a currency conversion fee. The conversion fee is for sellers that are registered in the US for example, but they list directly on .co.uk or .com.  They can be subject to both the international fee and the currency conversion fee. I think the conversion fee is 3% for sellers in the US.
