Curious on how this works.

I sold a pair of shoes for my son. I knew they were legit and my sons collecting goes way back.  After I packaged and went to mail I insured for over $500.00 so the signature is free and requested signature. I tried to email the buyer through e-bay to give him the tracking number and it was closed and I wasn't allowed to contact him. He emailed me when he received them and said he verified they were legit and would repackage them and send them to the owner. I understood what he was saying and wondered if all shoes, purses, and things that can be copied are sent somewhere first to verify and then sent on?

Thank you. I didn't know that. I am really having trouble getting around in ebay so I just give up. Are purses done too? I would definitely buy knowing that they were verified.

Only certain shoes, handbags, and watches are authenticated by eBay.

Here's a snippet from your listing. See where it says "Authenticity Guarantee" right at the very top?

Here's the eBay help page explaining the authenticity program:

Interesting that you gave yourself the "solution" to your own thread. Guess my replies weren't sufficient? 🙄

That is SO easy to do inadvertently.  I’ve done it myself and was mortified. [Insert ‘embarrassed emoji’ … which we no longer have for some reason.]

The OP would be able to change the ‘Solution’ if they wish by using the ‘Edit post’ option in upper-right corner of that post.

Generally, one has about five minutes to edit a post.

I think it might help with fraud on luxury items eBay has lost due to poor Seller Protection. I have a Seiko watch that I want to Sell. Gold nugget from the late 70’s it has 27.9 grams of 14KT gold. I certainly aren’t going to get ripped off selling it online! I would if I was guaranteed to get the money without a chargeback 6 months later… Everyone wants to give me gold wholesale prices🥸. I’ll just keep it!

That's correct ... but this isn't really an 'Edit post' option.  [I just don't know what to call the 'v-in-a-circle' thingie where we edit posts ... among other options.  If you know the name of that symbol ... I would love to know so that I can tell OPs less clumsily.  LOL]

I just went back to an older post of mine where I had 'accepted as solution' ... and clicked on the 'v-in-a-circle' .  One of the options was 'Not the Solution'.  I clicked on it ... and the 'solution indicator' was removed from the post and thread.  [I put it back so that the post became the 'Accepted Solution' again.]

So there's apparently no time limit to change or choose 'Accept as Solution'.   [BTW, we're also able to 'Revoke My Helpful' on a post if we've ever mismarked one of those ... but I think we can do that more easily by reclicking on the 'thumbs up' symbol next to 'Helpful'.]

Watches over a certain price threshold get sent to an authenticator first too.

Really no need to @ mention me further in this thread. Since I'm not the author, it would seem to be moot in this situation.

P.S. That "v in a circle" is not a "v"--it's a down arrow. It's nothing more than an icon used to display the DDL. It doesn't have a "name" per se, unless one considers "arrow circle down icon" a "name."
