I have another ebay account with a store subscription. I’ve been experimenting with order discount promotions to increase sales and I have a question that I can’t find the answer to:
If you have one item that falls under two separate percent off order promotions, what happens when a buyer’s order meets the requirements for both promotions? Is the discount doubled up or is only one promotion applied?
For example:
1st promotion: 40% off when you buy 3+ pairs of socks
2nd promotion: 10% off when you buy 3+ of any store items
What happens when someone buys 3 pairs of socks? Do they get 40% plus an extra 10% off? Or do they only get only one promotion, and if so is it the 40% or the 10%? Would it be based on the priority level, or does that only apply to which promo gets displayed on a listing?
Right now I’m keeping my items in separate promotions. However, I would like to offer promos for related items but then also have a (low)% off order discount that includes everything in my store. I don’t want to do that until I know how the discounts are applied, especially if a buyer asks me about it before they place an order. I want to have answer for them.

So... I figured out a way to answer my own question. For anyone who is interested this is what I found out:
*Only one promotion will be applied to an item even if it qualifies for more than one.
*If an item does qualify for more than one offer, the one with the biggest discount will be applied. The priority # assigned to the offer has no effect on which promo is applied. The priority # is only about which promo is displayed on a listing.
*Each item only counts toward one promo at a time. This surprised me. Using my previous example of 40% off when you buy 3+ pairs of socks & 10% off when you buy 3+ of any store items---> If you buy 3 pairs of socks you get 40% off. However, if you buy 3 pairs of socks and a shirt, you get the 40% offer but no 10% discount on the shirt despite the fact that you are buying at least 3 items in the 10% offer. The socks would be disqualified from counting toward the 10% promo. You'd have to add at least 2 additional items that are not part of the 40% promo to qualify for the 10% offer. I could see where a buyer might get upset about that one.

When Creating Promotions, you set a priority # ... if not, if an item falls under 2 promotions, the buyer gets whichever deal is better.

Can I run more than one offer at a time?
Can I change the order of priority if an item falls under two promotions?
No. The tool automatically selects the offer to be shown according to the promotions logic.1 The buyer will always get the best offer possible in cart and sees only one offer per item.

Thanks for your reply! Curious if you have direct expirence with this or are just going by the turorial explaination. Because I did read through the FAQ about promotions and I still came away unsure of how multiple promotions would be applied.

I have no success adjusting display priority. Does this work for you? I have two promos and no matter how I set priority, only the sale discount displays, even though the shipping discount is a deeper discount and set to #1 priority.
Any experience with this problem? Any help? Thanks in advance.
