We are an assistive technology company reselling learning / productivity software aimed at dyslexic / disabled people, but which is also for non disabled people. It is the product of a Dutch company who require the e-mail address of reseller's customers in order to create the account. After the account has been created, a user can log in and change their account e-mail address and password.
In order to generate the individual or site license, we therefore need the buyer to provide an e-mail address. We would then send them the PDF license and installation file on our branded USB flash drives.
As we need the buyer's e-mail address to create the license, I would be very grateful if somebody could tell me:
1) Is it permitted to include a link to an "ebay buyer" form on our website asking for their e-mail address?
If not:
2) Should I ship the USB drive containing a PDF document including: a username, password, a dud e-mail address and instructions on how to change it on the manufacturer's website? Note that the cloud and Windows applications require the username, NOT the e-mail address, so can still be used immediately upon receipt of the USB flash drive?
As a new business seller, we would be extremely grateful for any advice.
Many thanks

As a new business seller, you might want to have a look at the eBay user agreement.

Digital items must be approved. Most are not. Even if it's a USB plug in, it's still not a physical item as you are selling the software which is digital, not the plug in. It would be considered deceptive.
Read up on policies and what violates policies here:

Thanks, but I have checked this out with eBay and everything is ok about software selling in this way.
What do you sell?

Thanks, I did so using the text-to-speech software we are selling. It is really useful....

If ebay says it's ok, why are you asking about it here? Just sell it and see how you do.
I sell lots of things and follow Ebay policies. Going on 22 years. Good luck

Thinking this is going to be a pretty big problem for a lot of buyers:
It is the product of a Dutch company who require the e-mail address of reseller's customers in order to create the account
It is common knowledge that many companys that say they require this are only doing it to build a client list of their own and the emails addy's will be used in unsolicited sales promotions.
Not to mention once they have a good solid sized client base, why will they need you?
