eBay claims that the otterbox in box that I sold was a counterfeit...but does not refund my buyer. ??? A week later I receive an email from a NY law firm saying that eBay gave them my info and that they’re representing the buyer. I bought this phone on eBay 2 years ago and it didn’t fit my phone. It took me 3 weeks to sell it for a measly $11.99. I shipped it and a week after that was told it was a counterfeit...
The email from the law firm offers a link to pay $1000 to cover this suit against me.
I smell a fish.
What would you do? I’ve started by asking my buyer if he’d consulted a lawyer. eBay has given them my name address and email. Is there a real contact phone number for eBay any more? I need to talk to them. Any one else experience this?

I looked it up and it appears to be a parking skyrise in NYC.

Why do the 2nd and 3rd photos of your listing show that you have what looks like an entire carton of those things?

What things? Which listing?

No, he hasn’t.

Sorry - my bad. I was trying to open https://www.ebay.com/itm/203841856222 which is yours but Ebay led me to another listing with the very same title.

Thank you.

I contacted my buyer and asked if he’d like a refund. eBay social responded and said that otterbox was the one that contacted them about the listing and then I had the sold item listing removed. eBay says I should contact them in five days if I don’t get a response from my buyer. I’m new to this communication site. What is that “accept solution” button?
thanks everyone!

Hi. I was just wondering if you ever received a solution. I just got notified that my 2 Otterbox listings were reported as counterfeit also but the email came from Ebay directly. Both were already sold and I never received any kind of communication from the buyers reporting any problems or from Ebay stating I needed to refund the buyers. They just gave me the email for brand protection at Otterbox.

I would just let it go and not relist those two items even if you have more examples to sell.
(This thread is a year old now so it would be better to continue discussion if needed under a fresh Subject line.)

Since the original poster has not returned to this board since starting this thread nearly a year ago, I suggest you send a private message to her through the eBay system. Click on her User-ID and then use the Send a Message function.

I managed to report the scheme to eBay. After one year and blocking the lawyers phone & email...I’ve heard nothing. I was never served or received documents via registered mail like the fake lawyer said I would. No more harassing calls requesting first a thousand then two thousand dollars (because I hung up on him). What bothers me about this is that the scheme...fraud would have to originate through eBay. Our personal emails are kept secure. I’ve been hoping that eBay took action and had him clean out his desk. eBay never contacted me.

Sounds fake. Over the years I've received notices from fake collection agency that I owed ebay money. Don't fall for it.
