Copycats

Stop infringing on my copyrights via duplicating my listings/pictures and undercutting my price by $1.00.

eBay may condone this behavior,..... I don't...... Nor does the Federal Trade Commission. So knock it off.

Uh, our point here is that we are 99% sure the person who has offended you won't read your message here.

This whole thread would be an excellent start for a sociological case study exploring what eBay is, vs. what the people who use eBay think it is. All sorts of stuff involving social norms being violated, the sense that companies and users have certain legal rights... all kinds of fun topics.

I did Make a "polite" request and the response is where the vulgar language came in.

I don't care for people like that! Who does? Had someone spoke to me like that face to face they would be nursing a bloody broken nose!

And you would be in handcuffs. You seem to have serious anger management problems. You also failed to read the User Agreement:

"When you create listings you give eBay and its members permission, through our user agreement, to use your images, videos and product details. Your content may be added to the eBay product catalog, and may be used by other sellers in their eBay listings."

@toysaver I agree. I don't like violence.

I'm a veteran. Please don't talk violence to me!

Just don't steal my pictures and writings. Is that to much to ask? Why I won't post pictures. They'll just be stolen.

Good Golly! I simply made a statement complaining about a person using my listings so that they may profit when I'm the one who spent the time and money to post them.

Now you all make me out to be the bad guy?

And yes, that person is on these boards constantly!

After all, If you copy and steal someone else's work, you have nothing more to do than be a blabber gossip mouth.

I'll give you their name if they keep it up, but we're not supposed to do that on this board.

Although it would be hard to choose just one, one of my favorites is the buyers/sellers who are threatening to "see an attorney" about whatever went wrong with their $13.98 item.

I always use someone's listing as a base.  Change the title a bit. Change description.  Obviously not going to use any pictures that are not mine.  Fastest way to list.  Just the way it is.  Feel free to copy any of my listings less the pictures.

"Your real ID we'd be looking at your listings and finding the copycat listings and trying to find a solution."

The OP is probably referring to my 'laughing all the way to the bank' post.

In reality if we could see their offerings their sales might increase.

Hmm posting a listing on eBay you give them the rights to do with it what ever they desire..

You no longer own such rights to your photos or descriptions; if you are listing on eBay.

In other words read the user agreement.

Just saying...

We all get where you're coming from.  We get you. We all think it sucks too.

What we're trying to say is, it's not illegal. Not ebay or the FTC or the FBI will do anything about it.

Since you obviously know who this person is, why don't you message them directly?

All you can do is ask them to stop.

Selling on ebay you're going to encounter this every once in a while.

You have to learn to live with it.  Usually the offender is a "fly by night" seller,  "here today, gone tomorrow",

so don't let it bother you too much.

Thank you for your service.

@variety_nook

How is that person who is  "on these boards constantly" going to know that you are referring to them when you are not posting this WITH YOUR SELLING ID.  If that person who is stealing your listing(s)  frequent these boards comes along this post, they will NEVER KNOW that you would be talking about them because you do not list anything with this id.   The best you could get them is "oh, i kinda do that from time to time" but would they think that it is personally directed to them?  NOPE because you are NOT using your selling ID to post this so how on earth is the offender going to know that this post is for them???

...just sayin'...

You need to re-post this using your selling ID so that they know that it is directed to them.

😁
