Did you mean:

Consignment

I am looking for someone to sell  a rather large collection of sports memorabilia for me.  Ideally, the person would be somewhat local to me.  I cannot seem to find a directory on the site.  Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Be sure to check on the licensing of any agent that you decide to handle this type of work for you.  Many states have strict licensing requirement for auctioneers and auction businesses when selling things at auction as an agent for the owner.  Of course, even if selling at a fixed price, you really want to see that the agent you hire is licensed and reputable.

I would also suggest that you get all the particulars in writing to guard against misunderstandings in the future.

I would probably recommend using a local auction business or local store dealing in the type of memorabilia that you wish to dispose of.  They probably already have a following and may be a better choice in the long run.

@billymartinnumber1

it seems like eBay no longer maintains a list,

Yes, sellers wanted to have the item in their hands and  to have the buyer pay all fees.

And still found that 25-40% of the buyer's payment was too low to be profitable.

Buyers wanted to control their items including the price they would accept, and to have the seller pay all fees from their share of the payment.

Getting 60-75% of the payment for their goods was too low a return.

Have you had a local dealer give you a written appraisal of your collection? You will pay for this, but it can be used for estate purposes, for insurance claims, or can even be an offer to buy from the dealer.

If you go that way, make an appointment, keep the appointment, assume that you will be present during the appraisal*, and the appraisal will be on letterhead and signed.

The appraisal will single out the better items from the commons.

Re: Consignment

Also remember you bought at retail, but you will be selling at wholesale.

Collecting is a hobby, not an investment.

Re: Consignment

You could always use the active and sold listing to identify and determine value. Then slowly sell 4 to 5 items at a time and keep the full amount. If need be you could find a local business selling similar items to help identify and figure out a rough value.

Expect to pay the business for this expertise.  When we had a store we charged $25 an hour with a minimum of one hour, or two percent of the appraised value of a collection for appraisals.

And depending on the purpose of the appraisal (estate, cash sale, insurance being the most common) the appraised value could vary.
