I do not understand why U.S. history is not revered. I just tried to post three 1861 civil war patriotic covers and received the "banned" notice. This is our nations history, is this an agenda to not recognize the facts, is it revisionist history? This is not hate. There were 11 states that wanted this, they just happened to lose the vote. This is free speech. Sweep it under the rug and participate in an agenda that looks to modify history according to their values and interests. Aside from the fact that it kills off the collectible market for this patriotic covers category. Only northern civil war illustrations are allowed? Take about censoring, this is it 100%. What does this community think? In any case, I will only list northern attitude messages and images.

"This is free speech" - no it is not.
eBay does not want those items on its site.
eBay doesnt allow many things on their site, some have little to do with an agenda.
I dont have to agree with eBay on what is or is not allowed but they set the rules here.

The more I learn about our history, the less I revere it. I say this as someone who dedicated 4 decades of my life to helping protect our nation.
There are rules here on eBay reflecting eBay "values and interests" and we all must conform to same.
And the folks who enforce those rules to make eBay a "safe place" are definitely not historians; nor are they familiar with the intricacies and fine details of American history. They are merely drones with talking points which they will recite to you when you chat with them.
Most sellers have at one time or another have had a listing taken down for reasons similar to yours.

The First Amendment free speech clause states that the government cannot limit free speech. It does not say there is unlimited free speech. Ebay can set heir own rules. Try selling the items on another platform.

Thank you for your comment, much appreciated. I do not think these rules are casual and written by drones. This is serious business and they are taking a position. But, yes, once implemented it is a platform drone message. We learn through history. Nothing is perfect but we have more freedoms than anyone else in the world. I have been selling for 8 years on eBay and have listed items that have been prohibited (black americana of course). This is the latest and one I find especially bothersome. Just needed to say something. Thanks again.

My understanding of eBay's ban on a Confederate battle flag is that it's tied to newer connotations in the use of that flag, not related to whatever happened in the 19th century.

The way things are going there is a possibility for a new civil or revolutionary war, & We all know how those ended & would most likely end the same way again. & then we can all start selling souvenirs of these horrid events.

While I may be inclined to agree on the free speech issue, those that make the rules here on eBay think otherwise. List items that do not meet eBay rules somewhere else. It's that simple.

Even the Smithsonian is being ordered to "eliminate improper, divisive, or anti-American ideology".
Any sort of negative history is to be binned.

It's not a censorship or free speech issue. It's a rule by a private company, not the government.
It's still history. It's not being erased. We're not at the memory hole stage yet.

You see, there is good history and bad. They are worried someone will restart the civil war with it. I suppose gray slacks and shirts will be banned next.
That's why we now reenact the battle of Gettysburg with custard pies.
Mean nasty , icky wars. Let's pretend they never happened.

Not making money with selling your banned flags is not 'erasing history' by any means. Thats just your perspective.

Free Speech is often misunderstood and misused. No one has the right to Free Speech here on Ebay.
Free Speech = is the right of a person to articulate opinions and ideas without interference or retaliation from the government.

Selling on eBay is not a right, but a privilege granted by the company that owns the platform. As such, we are bound by eBay’s rules and policies that we all agreed to follow when listing our first item.
At this point, I would be more concerned about having my listing pulled for not knowing the rules, rather than why such a rule exists. It is critically important to know these policies as they can effect the health and success of one’s account.

Right, they can set their own rules. Not sure why want to be in the business of censorship. This is peaceful assembly free speech. On other platforms! Thanks
