Completed & Sold Search Not Working?

Is it me or is the Completed & Sold searches not working?  When I click on either option I get a page showing no items - but it does list how many items should be there.  Hmmm

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working?

When I turn off my ad blocker I can see the completed and sold listings just fine when I search. As soon as I enable my ad blocker again the listings disappear. Yes, I'm sure it's Ebay fiddling with things again. Maybe if enough people fuss about it they'll change it back.

Well you would be wrong then.

It isn't eBay - it's an incorrect element hiding rule in the Easylist subscription ruleset used in most adblockers. That actually makes it your fault - you chose to run the adblocker, and to use the subscription list which is to blame.

Not everything is eBay's fault. Many things, but not all.

A fix is here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Technical-Issues/sold-ltems/m-p/29642846#M55023

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working?

I just switched ad blocker and my problem was solved. So it was the ad blocker. Not really my fault though since my old ad blocker worked fine last week. Only conclusion is Ebay is fiddling with things again-----Occam's Razor-------

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working?

If you turn the adblocker off it doesn't apply the faulty rule. If you uninstall the adblocker it doesn't apply the faulty rule. If you switch adblockers and the new one doesn't use the Easylist subscription ruleset it doesn't apply the rule.

So it was NOT the adblocker. It is the third party Easylist ruleset the adblocker uses.

eBay had nothing to do with this unless they changed some things in the structure/details of the search results pages, which I suspect they did, but is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. eBay doesn't have to not edit their pages or change things because you chose to use third party tools that break when they do.

I found (and pointed out) the specific rule in the Easylist set that is causing the problem - it targets sold/completed search results specifically by a class attribute, and wouldn't matter what adblocker applied that rule - it will hide sold and completed results on current search pages.

(there is a subtlety to whether other adblockers other than Adblock Plus use the same ruleset, and if so, whether the other adblockers support the Adblock Plus extensions like :-abp-has ( ) which is part of the problem with the rule in question - that extension broadens the rule immensely which may be part of the problem - or maybe not. No idea what the rule originally was supposed to target)

Possibly a glimpse into the future?  Amazon does not show completed or solds.  Amazon listings are GTC without relist fees.   Ebay took away the Bidder Search.   There is no reason for them to show completed or sold listings.

If eBay ever does take away the sold/completed search, it will once again hurt the small sellers of unique/collectible/one-off type items.  Assuming many sellers use the sold information as guidance for both sourcing and pricing items for sale here.
