Complete local pickup?

First time in a long while. Buyer purchased and paid for a listing with local pickup.

He's in the next town over, and it turns out we know each other casually. I don't have any concerns about him claiming non-receipt, but how do I complete the transaction to eBay's satisfaction? Can I forgo the QR scan when I hand off the item? I don't love the app and don't have it my phone but can add it if necessary.

I think when you have both shipping and pickup as an option, it will count towards your late shipping. I'd have to research because I'm not 100% sure, but don't have the time right now. I have memory of an eBay rep on this board saying to avoid that, you can make it LPU only and remove all shipping options.

You should be able to manually mark it as shipped or picked up. You just won't get seller protections without entering the pickup code on the app or having tracking with delivery.

Whether or not it's marked as shipped or picked up should not have any bearing on eBay releasing the payment unless you are subject to new seller holds.

A few months ago I had a LPU transaction that the buyer never picked up, but the $ was made available to me within 2 days just like shipped transactions.

If you're not at all concerned about seller protections since you know this person then you can bypass entering the pickup code. Just leave the transaction alone - eBay already got their fees when the buyer paid and it was LPU so you don't need to ship anything.

That's what I thought, but it's showing in my orders as awaiting shipment, or to make arrangements for pickup. I did have a shipping option enabled, but the buyer asked me to add local pickup before he purchased.

I guess I'll do the scan or get the code from the buyer, so eBay knows the transaction is done and releases the payment.

Thanks for the replies. Seller since 1997 but haven't done a local pickup in years.

As you said, I do see an option to mark the item as picked up. I'll get the code anyway from the buyer if he has it when we meet up later.
