Why does ebay still have the star rating for communication?
99.9% of my transactions don't even require any communications with the buyers.

You and I, as experienced eBayers don't need the communication, but there are some out there that do.
I have had the "notes" in the payment with "please let me know the tracking #" or " let me know when you ship". I want to reply with "check your purchase history for shipping/tracking info", but I don't.
As a general rule, the only ones that I communicate with are those that I am messaging when they make an offer, or I "reply with offer" when they contact me during my "time away" about when something may be available. ( I do not have "make offer" on my listings.)

Patterns of behaviors matter more than single incidents, so I get what they are going for, but awarding five stars automatically for things muddles whatever point they were making, especially when communication really starts to matter when something is going wrong. Nothing went wrong and neither side communicated, so we're going to pretend it would have gone well? Whatever. Oh and the shipping thing is even funnier if true. If I ship for free, I must be a good shipper suddenly?

Why can't we rate the communication of eBay?
