I have all perfect metrics except for the COMMUNICATION DSR which currently stands at 4.8.
Since ebay sends shipment info when the item ships (right? or do i have that wrong?), what am I supposed to do? Send a redundant shipping notice and smooch some buns?
When buyers ask questions, I am pretty quick about answering politely, etc., even when they ask stupid questions, so not sure what else is expected by these whiners. Have half a mind to block these buyers....
Is there a way to customize the shipping notice?
Thanks!

if a buyer leaves no stars, i would assume that doesn't bring your rating down. So my score is definitely from people leaving less than 5 stars.
seems like if there is no communication at all, ebay should 'gray' that DSR out so that no rating can be given, as they do with other DSRs.

If there is no communication at all, you automatically get five stars. The buyer cannot rate at all. Once there is communication after purchase, the buyer then has the opportunity to rate.

If there is no communication between the buyer and the seller using the message system. the seller automatically gets 5 stars even if the buyer gives no stars in any category. (They don't count any messages eBay sends as communication )
So there are a lot of scenarios that will through the numbers off.

Words like "stupid questions" and "whiners" might bring a few lower communication stars...

Have you looked at your feed back for all categories your seller rating is 5 star and 18 for each category. The 18 buyers that took the time to leave feedback all had no issues. However it only takes a few mins when you get home to send a basic message to the buyer letting them know their item had shipped and tanking them for their purchase. A small thing like that can help if the buyer has a issue down the line by opening a good line of communication which could help them decide to work with you.

That's not the case on my buying accounts. The communication DSR appears on every feedback transaction, whether I've had communication or not. As I said, I rarely have communication with a seller; however, the communication DSR rating is always available. That's why I said I'm never quite sure how to rate it. If it didn't show up at all, I wouldn't have that dilemma.
Maybe there are different criteria on different buyers' accounts; however, my accounts show a communication DSR available for rating even if there's been no communication.

Nobody cares!
On the new look feedback page there is no hover showing the decimal points.
All it would take is one person to give you a 3 or two to give you a 4 because you only have 18 ratings that is enough to bring you down to 4.8
eBay doesn't track or care about dsr's in term of seller performance ratings.

sounds to me like if you do that, you open yourself to that DSR rating, whereas people here are saying that if you have NO communication, you get a 5 automatically....

I care or i wouldn't have asked*
even without the decimel points, i can see it's not a perfect 5.0 star rating.
*I think ebay does care--I think it's entirely possible your items' visibility is affected by feedback, including DSRs.

im seeing conflicting statements about this all over the place...buyers stating (like you) that even without communication with a seller, they can still leave Communication DSR ratings. Then others citing ebay policy stating that you automatically get a 5-star rating if no communication takes place...will see if I can find the policy.

not likely unless DSRs are based on forum posts.
Ha! Funny you should say that!
I found an item I was looking for offered by a couple of sellers. I recognized one of the member ids as being a rather challenging participant on the discussion boards. I bought from the other seller, even though the item was a little more expensive.
