After crunching numbers and giving it a LOT of thought, I have decided to close shop on eBay and take my inventory elsewhere. I've done everything to keep it alive here. Constant promotions, promoted listings, etc.. I have found that my last bill cycle, my fees are over 30%. I listed one of my items on a different marketplace the other day and sold it within 10 minutes. I may list a few here and there still as auctions or bin without a store, but my efforts will be focused elsewhere. I have updated my remaining listings to accept best offers as I slowly migrate my inventory there. In the meantime I will accept all reasonable offers. eBay is not what it used to be and it never will be again. I'm not here to complain. On the contrary. I am very hopeful that business can continue and thrive. Just not here. Wishing all of you success in the new year!

Where are you selling and what are you selling elsewhere. Thanks for a reply. I talked to other eBay sellers that are also spreading out their inventory to different web sites to increase revenue. I honeslty believe that eBay will always be here and it will continue to be a good web site to sell.

I understand. I am working my behind off. They want you to offer the customer percentages off, free shipping, free returns yet they take a portion of everything and then by the time you purchase inventory, spend endless time listing, take care of the buyers, promote listings, purchase supplies, use your electrcity, office equipment, storage space, you make maybe 1/10 if your lucky of your sells. I think the administrators of E-bay have forgotten what it is like to be on our side. Maybe they should try it out and then they would become more reasonable. 10 cents to the dollar that is worse than working for Uncle Sam. Which reminds me I forgot taxes so maybe 5 cents to the dollar. Why should we continue? I am still here because I am hoping there will be some logic to this madness and that something will change. I have lost so many sales due to their new payment system and have listened to many many customers complain, get angry at me, etc. I am frustrated and my dreams are being shattered daily. I still have some hope left in me though.

It is very concerning the direction ebay continues in. I have so many items now with multiple watchers ending with no bids. Everyone knows there are problems but ebay does not address any of them. I have no idea what their plan is unless they want to be an exclusive seller of Chinese junk which then they are going in the right direction. I fear in the near future this site will be obsolete which will be a real shame since I have enjoyed selling here up until this last year. I am very worried and hope someone has some answers.

I think I will be closing my store in january as well.
there is something very wrong when your store fees are more than your sales let alone your profit
used to sell $2000/mo
now lucky to make $200
sales much better elsewhere

If your fees are more than your sales then I agree, you are certainly doing something wrong?

I am not doing anything 'wrong'.
ebay has wronged us

I closed both my ebay stores in 2018 - one in January and one in March, and opened up two more non-store accounts. I have sold as much in 2018 on ebay without stores as I did in 2017 with them, and I've saved $500 in fees.

I'm very sorry to see you reduce your presence here, but you have to do what you have to do.
I wish you the best of success in your future endeavors.

I of course do not know all the venues out there.
But I am skeptical when sellers claim they have moved inventory to a site where everything is selling great.
I know we cannot name sites here but if that site existed, many of us would know about it and be moving there.
The grass is always greener .......
