Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

I'll bet that ebay would take notice if there were no auctions to be described for about the next week! Wouldn't it be nice...

That just means that you're not in the test, for now. You could be opted in at any time.

My auctions are still CLICK TO SEE. My descriptions are still hidden.
I had a glimmer of hope but it was dashed on rocks of...............sad tidings.

And you obviously have no clue whatsoever about just how seriously messed up this test that eBay is conducting is. Before waving the eBay pompoms and deriding the posters here for providing valuable feedback and expressing their concerns over this problem, why don't you actually take the time to read through the entire bloody thread so you at least have some inkling of an idea what we are talking about?

I think it's mostly a **bleep**py idea to separate pictures from descriptions. It's more convenient to see the pics, scroll down, read the description .. now you need to click on every **bleep** item description to see what the seller has to say? Why did I open the item if I didn't want to read the description?
Well shoot, I clicked the item because I wanted to see the pics and read the desc. Reading the description is apparently optional now, unless you click somewhere else yet again. Someone needs to be fired over this, seriously.
Off note: How hard would it be to implement a new Buyer Requirement: Prevent buyers from purchasing my items if they have more than [ X ] reports against them for abusing the Money Back Guarantee. Where X is a value between 0 and 1000. I'm on-board for zero!!!! =D Gimme!

I just clicked on a few of your listings and they looked great. Could somebody click on one of mine and tell me if description is gone?
The test is from the buyer's perspective, not the seller's. Your listings may be part of the test for some of your shoppers, but not with all of them.
yes, I understand. Thank you.

A complete non-issue. That little window was never a place to write any real description. In fact, I've been typing "Please read complete description" since they introduced what I regard as the ADD window. Raspberries.

It's quite obvious that this "test" is intended to see how far ebay can go with removing all seller's little description layouts so that the whole entire site looks the same, like Amazon.
They are trying to get us to force all our description into bullet points and still hope you've caught everything a buyer could ask - that's impossible in my case so it's going to result inevitably in me leaving the site, oh well.
Incidentally I do 80% of my work and 100% of my leisure and purchasing on an iPad. I positively loathe cutdown mobile options and I have no idea why I frequently get forced into mobile site options when the resolution of this screen is in fact FAR BETTER than my 1080p computer monitor. Amazon force me into mobile site, ebay actually don't. But having cutdown descriptions forced on me for using a "mobile" browser (on a system capable of putting far more on screen) is really difficult to justify.

@becksrelics wrote:Jeff, you kindof lost me on that one...sorry , guess I'm a little or lot dense.
My reading of your post at https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Click-to-view-entire-descripton-What-the-heck/m-p/23621549/hig... was that you thought sellers should be protected from defects for any reason during the test. We will protect seller from any issues that are the direct link to the test, but we're not going to protect a seller from any issue (such as ones not tied to the test like failing to ship an item) just because there is a test going on.
SIf the issue is related to the buyer not reading the description because of the test, that would be attributatble to the test, which as I wrote in my original message would mean the seller is protected.
JJeff, my concern is that we sellers will have nothing to be "protected" from. There is obviously no worry about negative fb when the sales are not being made because the buyers are confused, disenchanted and just, well, "turned off" and "turning away" because of this so-called "test." I haven't seen these "no description" listings yet myself, but from what I'm gathering from following this thread, they sound ridiculous and definitely not user friendly. So negative feedback? Sounds like the least of my worries. No bids, no sales, no buyers, no feedback.

@company_gunny wrote:How do buyers know that this button is not a link that I have added to take them off eBay and onto some nefarious site? Clicking the link is a leap of faith on the part of the buyer.
That is a great question because I know I don't like to click on links in listings. Sometimes they take you places you don't want to go.
