Hi everyone. I'm a new seller on Ebay, I am trying to sell dried fruits, I would like to know are particular restrictions selling it on Ebay. Also are there any country restrictions selling it on Ebay.

Lots of regulations you need to learn.

I found this on a quick search as it applies to travelers bringing dried fruits into the US but more than likely mirrors the laws for importing.

Most dried fruits and vegetables are not allowed into the United States without meeting special requirements to prevent the introduction of pests and diseases.

The following dried products are generally allowed but you must declare and present them to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for inspection:

  • Beans
  • Dates
  • Figs
  • Nuts (but not chestnuts or acorns)
  • Okra
  • Peas
  • Raisins
  • Szechwan peppercorns

The internet is a great place to research this kind of information.

As far as listing you may want to look at the following eBay policy.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/food-policy?id=4295

As for shipping you are going to have to run that one down on your own. Restrictions or laws will vary for the individual countries. For US imports you can check the FDA and customs website.

@shadea_44

Given the info here about selling dried fruits, it doesn't look like it's a good idea.  I would sell something else.

The internet sucks as a source of information about this specific question.  Unless one is of the opinion that everything on the internet is gospel fact.  I can understand why the OP asked the question here on eBay seller forums, because trying to devine the policies of eBay from the web is a certain rabbit hole of dead-ends and shadows.  I don't know the answer to the question, for sure, but a random internet search wouldn't shed any light on the actual answer, vis-a-vis eBay's opaque terms.  Heck, it would require a skyscraper full of attorneys to answer the question with any authority.

I wouldn't feel comfortable buying food from someone in Sri Lanka who's a brand new seller with unproven history.

I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you.

Same.  There's very little recourse on eBay.  On Amazon, at least, there are public reviews and a huge corporation that has resources, if I am harmed by a product.

eBay is a global behemoth, with an ironclad set of protections for buyers.

Use the interweb to find out...

*What your country allows you to export.

*What ebay allows you to sell.

*What the destination country allows you to import.

Good luck!

That being said, it makes it seem even more ridiculous, to ask about international import regulations, on an eBay chat forum.
