Christmas Night Listing Start

What are your thoughts about starting listings on Sunday Night, even if it's Christmas?  I normally start my listings on Sunday night and have about 50 ready to go on Christmas night and ending New Years Night.  I'm selling LPs and have had pretty good success cleaning out my collection, but I don't want to start them if I'm not going to get much activity.

Hi!

People are still buying Christmas presents why not list them now then?

If you have a store subscription, do it! If not, and you're paying a listing fee for each listing, you might want to wait until after the holidays.

Re: Christmas Night Listing Start

I'm not listing them now because they ship media mail, which is lowest priority, and I don't want to risk any of the getting lost.

Re: Christmas Night Listing Start

I don't.  I'm using the 250 listings free per month.  I still have listings available for December, and that's another reason I want to list them before the month ends.

@chestnut451

It doesn’t matter that it starts on Christmas Day.There’s no need for activity the moment it it listed.   It matters more when it will end. That’s New Year’s Day. If it were my listing, I would have it end later in the day. There will be less people up early because of  the celebrations of the night before. 🥳🎉

I'd list them.

Our busiest week (typically) is Christmas day thru New Years.  Gift cards rawk - folks buy what they truly wanted, spend $$ from Grandma!

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Re: Christmas Night Listing Start

Just carry on as you normally would.

Christmas is still only one Sunday out of an entire year.

"Christmas is still only one Sunday out of an entire year."

And not everyone who shops on eBay also recognizes Christmas.

HI!

Change it to priority then.  After reading all the horror stories here about media mail I changed all mine.

Re: Christmas Night Listing Start

I have found over the decades that,  selling collectibles, the busiest part of the year starts on Boxing Day.

This includes sales in our (now closed for retirement) B&M store.

To the extent that our Boxing Day sale was the only one of the year. Any other sales we tried generated no new sales and reduced our income.

My hypothesis is that collectors give themselves an allowance and in December use that allowance to buy gifts for others. Then giving being over, they succumb to their pent up demand.

On the other hand,  I only use Auctions when DH insists and then switch back to Fixed Price when those inevitably do not sell.

So the starting point for my listings is irrelevant. When the buyer is around, he will find them.

I list any day of the week holidays included.
It’s your seller account list when you want to. I ship media mail but I find at times it’s faster than first class. Buyers know the estimated delivery date that’s shown in the listing.  So list away or not,it’s entirely up to you.

Re: Christmas Night Listing Start

Absolutely!  Christmas Night (if you list auction style) is 7 days later ending on a Sunday.

This is a GREAT time to blow out some slow movers/old stock/make a few smiles by listing at a discount, etc...as lots of folks get "EBay Gift Cards" and will be shopping.

I skipped listings beginning EARLY on Christmas Day (no one will be shopping then), but once Santa is done...Turkey is gobbled down, the old folks are fast asleep, kids are playing with their toys and loot...RIGHT BACK AT IT...CLEARANCE STYLE.

(FYI...LPs and Albums.  please feel free to message me.  I may clear you all the way out, my friend if ya got some good ones).

Best of luck fellow Seller and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Re: Christmas Night Listing Start

I purchased sturdy LP boxes and have already sent out over 60 of them.  The feedback I've received indicates they are arriving in good condition and packaged very well.  Frankly, I'm surprised.
