Chargeback Made On PayPal, Only Seller Protection Unless Paypal Wins?

Received an email last night that a buyer filed a chargeback on Paypal for a $165 item.  Reason for the chargeback was Unauthorized Purchase.  Item was delivered and signed for a week ago.  Never heard a word from the customer, just this chargeback a week later.

I find it highly unlikely this was an Unauthorized Purchase.  Perhaps they didn't recognize the transaction on their statement or (what I believe to be more likely) they are trying to get something for nothing.  I called PayPal they said they had all the information they needed and that with this info they win these 80% of the time, but if they don't win it I'm out the money.

So is it just a waiting game now?  I'm thinking about messaging the buyer through eBay, giving them the benefit of the doubt that is may be a mistake on their end.  Guess I have nothing to lose.

PayPal already had all the info, it was already in the review process when I got the email last night.  My issue was contradictory information I got this morning when I called PayPal just to follow up and verify I was covered he acted like if was all up to the credit card company and I wasn't covered if they refunded the money.  But according the second guy I talked to I'm fine, they have the information needed and I'm covered no matter what.  I still did email the customer just to see what's going on, to give him a chance to do the right thing if it was filed on mistake.

I've been through a lot of those over the years, and I have never lost a single one of them.  You are going to be fine.

You should NOT contact the customer, nor should you assume that he is pulling some sort of scam.  That is not likely the case.

Some of these take a very long time to resolve, like weeks or months.  Longest one I ever had to a little over 6 months.

Well I did email the customer, I was polite though and did not accuse them of anything just inquiring as to what is going on.  I don't expect a response as I do I think this is a scam, or I'm dealing with an elderly person, I've had a few issues with people in their 80's and 90's buying gifts on here and not really knowing what they are doing.

Public information about people on the internet (name, address, age) is so readily available, makes it pretty easy to figure out who I'm dealing with.  But since I'm supposed to be covered no matter what the outcome and PayPal is not holding my funds I will just move on, guess it really doesn't matter how long it takes.

You should still do the above steps in the PP resolution center as outlined by @richard1rst

Yes, they have the info, but they want you to give it to them again.

There is no place to insert any information and Paypal didn't ask me for any information in the email or when I called in.  The claim automatically went into review.  I've been told both times I called in they had all the information they needed already.

In your photo there is a line "email sent to seller" Click "reply"

Additionally, in the resolution page I have always found a link to send in any information. You might just be looking at the wrong page.

I've been selling online for 15 years + so I'm well aware of how the resolution center works at least on an Individual account. There is no reply option, there is no option to do anything.  This PayPal account is a business account that's linked to my eCommerce site (and I also use it on eBay) so it's different from a standard PayPal account, my Individual PayPal account does not have the same options as this one.  I also have "Funds Now" and some other form of "Enhanced Seller Protection" so that may be the reason things are a little different than what you are referring to.  All it says under the Resolution Center is this, and then when I click Case Details it brings a pop up window with those other details.  So at this time they have the info they need.
