Changing from delivery to local pickup AFTER sale is completed

A potential buyer contacted my while my auction was live.  She lived in my city and asked if I'd be willing to do a local pickup if she won the item.  I said yes without thinking how that would work once the auction ended.  She ended up winning the auction but I cannot change or remove the shipping costs.  What is the best way to handle this?

One option - have her pay the shipping and refund it to her when she picks up the item.  The problem is that there's no proof of delivery so I don't know how I would be paid.

Another - Cancel the sale and offer a Buy it Now listing for the bid she made?

I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

If the buyer agrees you can cancel at buyers request.

Relist as a BIN with local pick up. If they pay online, they will get a code to scan when they pickup.

Your second option is probably the best choice. Otherwise, you may earn a defect for not getting your shipping scan in time and you wouldn't get you fees for the part you refunded back. Plus having no proof of delivery and the problem of exchanging contact information in eBay's very restrictive messaging system.

Just be sure to cancel due to a problem with buyers address, or at buyers request, or you;ll get a defect there. And, when you relist it, be sure it is set up for free  local pick up only.

Don't cancel the transaction and relist. Send an invoice with the shipping removed.

Re: Changing from delivery to local pickup AFTER sale is completed

Thank you for your advice....since asking the question the buyer paid and included shipping.  I'm still happy to meet them and and refund their shipping charges but how can I provide proof of delivery to EBay so I can receive my payment?

This is exactly what I'd like to do but EBAY will only allow me upgrade shipping costs, not downgrade.  In the meantime the buyer paid and included the shipping costs.  At this point I'd like to know how to provide EBAY with proof of delivery so I can be paid.

When you are in your sold items view, there should be a drop down of actions next to the listing.  One of them should be "Send Refund".  Click on this - don't worry, it won't refund the entire amount.  It will then take you to a screen where it will prompt you for a refund reason and then you can choose to do an item level refund or an order level refund.  I don't think it really matters which one you choose but for shipping refunds, I usually choose order level.  Then you enter the amount you want to refund and click on Review Refund.  You will then be given a chance to confirm the refund.  Confirm it and you are done.

You can't now, if your talking about a new sellers hold, just have the buyer leave positive feedback for you as soon as possible.  But you'll probably have to wait the full 21 days. However, you can still cancel, even if they have paid. It'll just take a few days for them to get their refund. Not a good way to start off selling.

That's the problem with just refunding the shipping.

You had a listing with shipping, if you allow local pick up now and just refund shipping there's no way to prove delivery. A signed receipt isn't going to do it for eBay.

I know just refunding is easier but it's less protection for you as the seller.
