Changed option?

Was listing some auctions using Advanced page and notice at the very bottom of the Selling section a radio button with the label, "Automatically relist this item up to 8 times if it doesn't sell. No insertion or optional listing upgrade fees for each relist." Next to it was an info button which when opened read, "Automatically relisted items won't be charged insertion or optional listing upgrade fees. Final value fees still apply."

I do remember this button, but don't recall it stating auto-relists were free. Anyone have solid info on this? TIA.

Re: Changed option?

I'm sorry, it was a few days ago and I don't remember enough details to  find it again.

Re: Changed option?

Another update. Auction re-listed again as item 283803006290. All details remain the same, so far the free re-list is working as described. I called CS (got a GOOD English speaker) and a CS selling specialist confirmed that the free re-list was relatively new and should work as promised. Decided to go for it and set up a weeks worth (12-15) for the auto re-list. Will see how it goes.

Re: Changed option?

If these auction re-lists don't count towards and deduct from any free listings as with fixed price listings, this could be a good thing for auction format sellers.

Re: Changed option?

My thoughts as well. I had switched from fixed price to auctions when eBay forced GTC last year; just did not want the extra bother of sheparding items to evade auto-relist fees. If it works as promised, this looks like a good solution to get more exposure for your items without increased fees.

Re: Changed option?

Update on the test auction. Item relisted OK four times with new item number each time. Fifth relist failed with item going to Unsold Items list. Only explanation was "This item didn't automatically relist. To relist it, go to the listing tool.". Four relists is fine with me. I'll just run it again as a "Sell similar". No listing fees charged and no items taken off Store listings. So far, so good.

Re: Changed option?

P.S. on last update. Even though the test item was put into the Unsold list with the above warning message, it was still relisted an hour and twenty minutes after it ended. Fortunately I hadn't relisted it yet. Something to watch out for.

Re: Changed option?

Final update on this one. Test item went through all 8 relists and no store listings were charged and no listing fees. Unfortunately the item did not sell, but I did get a couple of sales from other items that I put on the 8-relist thing. Looks like eBay is telling the truth on this one, so far.
