Changed option?

Was listing some auctions using Advanced page and notice at the very bottom of the Selling section a radio button with the label, "Automatically relist this item up to 8 times if it doesn't sell. No insertion or optional listing upgrade fees for each relist." Next to it was an info button which when opened read, "Automatically relisted items won't be charged insertion or optional listing upgrade fees. Final value fees still apply."

I do remember this button, but don't recall it stating auto-relists were free. Anyone have solid info on this? TIA.

Re: Changed option?

@bimm_corp, here's the policy:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/relisting-items?id=4147#sectio...

...

Automatic relisting is available in most categories, but there are some exclusions (see below). If your item doesn’t sell after 8 relists, it will appear in your unsold items.

We charge an insertion fee (or count it as a zero insertion fee listing) for the original auction-style listing. Automatic relists are free for all non-business sellers except for listings in the eBay Vehicles categories. If you’re selling on eBay as a business, we charge an insertion fee (or count it as a zero insertion fee listing) each time the item is relisted.

...

 I don't know if there's a good definition for business sellers vs. non-business sellers anywhere in the policy pages, though.

Maybe, the best definition is, if your listing page tells you that the 8 automatic relists on auctions are free, then you're a non-business seller.

Re: Changed option?

Sound logical, but you know eBay lately. Everything changes at their whim; and back again. I try a test auction and see what happens. If it does re-list for free, the problem will be trying to find if the re-lists get buried way down in the queue.

Re: Changed option?

Perhaps one is a non-business seller until it sells and then fees apply?

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

@bimm_corp

You can check here to see if your account is set up as a business.  https://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&CurrentPage=MyeBayPersonalInfo&FClassic=true&ssPageName=...

I have a business account and I see the 8 free relists when I list auction style.  I never have tried it to see if it indeed would be free.

Thanks for the link. Account is "individual", so we'll see how it goes with the test item.

Wouldn't be surprised. sounds like  normal operating procedure for eBay.

Re: Changed option?

Update on my test auction. Item re-listed, not immediately but 8 min after it ended. So far no new listing fee charged and no listing subtracted from my store listings. Item received a new number, 283795338164, was not re-listed with the original number. So far, so good. Will post update if anything changes.

Re: Changed option?

Thanks for the update.  The new listing number is not surprising, but the 8-minute delay is.

Re: Changed option?

A little more info. The original item number no longer shows up in search, so no link from old to new number. Also does not show in my deleted items nor does it show in search if the completed box is checked.. There is no indication in the new number that it is a re-list, so it apparently re-lists as a new virgin auction.

There is no indication in the new number that it is a re-list, so it apparently re-lists as a new virgin auction.

That's how relisted auctions usually work. The Completed listing will have a note about "Relisted" at the top. But the new listing never does.

In a member's Watch list, the Completed listing will have a button that says Go to relisted item, and members can choose to be notified when a watched item is relisted.

Usually if you search on the listing number for a completed listing, the basic search doesn't find it, but it will show up if you click on "Completed."     I'd be glad to double-check this if you share a listing number.

Re: Changed option?

The Dai Kamikaze listing does show up for me in Completed, and at the top of the listing is the standard message about "Bidding has ended on this item. The seller has relisted this item or one like this" which takes me to the active listing.

In a past discussion about this automatic relist feature, another seller mentioned that there had been a 7-minute delay before the relist, and that's exactly how long this relist took, also.
