By lumping glassware and pottery together and listing items by function instead of by manufacturer has made it difficult to search for items or to list them in such a way that they can be easily found. If I am listing a rare Early American Pattern Glass sugar or spooner, I would like for the listing to stand out, not just lumped into bowls. This was a terrible decision with no input from long time sellers and buyers.

Just because eBay has removed a specific category that does not mean you (or your potential buyers) are forced to look through every listing in the parent category.
There are multiple ways to search for any item or set of items on eBay. Using keywords, category and filter options you should still be able to find just about anything.
You can still search by brand -- either by using the brand name as a keyword, or by using a specific filter.
For instance, if I do a general search for EAPG, I get about 26,000 results. From the results page, I can choose any number of filter options:

A search for EAPG spooner finds about 1000 results:
If you want your listing to stand out, be sure to include some relevant item-specifics, so that a buyer interested in, say, a clear Fostoria spooner or a blue Adams spooner can find it using filters:

I sell EAPG almost exclusively. Just make sure that terms like "EAPG" and "spooner" are in your title. Is it ruby flashed? Add "ruby" to your title. Also maker and pattern number if you know them. This will let buyers find the items they are looking for even though the option to browse by category is gone. When browsing, though, buyers need to ensure that "all categories" is still selected as eBay has been arbitrarily changing this, at least during my searches. Good luck!
